Hi there:

Got a minor problem that comes as a result of a Norton cleanup of a Keylogger Trojan on my Windows XP. The clean up required me to delete the CMID32.DLL file from my Windows folder. This files works with WINUPD.EXE.

Now, when I startup the computer and Windows comes up, a warning message pops up saying the following:

"winupd.exe - Unable To Locate Component"
"This application has failed to start because cmid32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application my fix this problem."

So, after a search on the Internet, the CMID32.DLL cannot be found for download anywhere. I do not want to do a re-installation of XP as I'm sure there is an easier fix. Problem is, I don't know what the easy fix is. Can you help?

Thanks so much for your response.

- Kevin

Hi, there!

Can you please download HijackThis, place it in a permanant folder, and run it.

Now, press "Scan", then press "Save Log". That will open a document in Notepad, paste that in this thread. I may just be a case of a left over runkey.

Quote from Original CWS Article at SWI: "There could be other domains involved in the future." ... We've come a long way since then

PM me if you know what that says. Whoever gets it right gets put here!
