Anti favorites auto adding.

im new to this forum, first of all i like to say thanks for the help.
i am from australia and i foudn this forum with google

i was wondering of any could tell me a regedit file or if there is any options in on my windows xp that can stop my IE from auto addin favorites to my list..
it does it automatically and i hate it.
could some one tell me what i can do to stop this ?

ps. i dont really want to download any software for this problem.

To be honest, it sounds as if you have some uninvited visitors on your computer! IE, of itself, cannot add things to the favorites, but there is a lot of malware that can.

I suggest that you download Hijack this
Copy it into its own folder, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, do Ctrl-A to Select All, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.
Be wary of strong drink. It may make you shoot at tax collectors, and miss!
