Hello Everyone,

I recently picked up some malicious ad/spyware unknowingly which included parasites such as "seekseek," "virtualbouncer," "tv media," "clearsearch," "second thought," "lycos," "Maxspeed," etc.

Scanned with both ad-aware and spybot. Spybot seems to have gotten rid of many of these bugs except there is one major problem - I cannot download anything from the web - when I click to download something the clicks simply continue repeatedly (keeps trying to open the file) but nothing happens. Because of this problem, I have been unable to download the HijackThis program or any Windows Updates (as well as any other downloads).

My system is Windows 98, but regretfully I cannot tell you much more about it because my computer knowledge is very limited.

I would be very grateful for any advice.

Thanks so much,

It opens up on my computer as the following:

Powerdesk C:WINDOWS\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5/KLEFW9EV\hijackthis[1].zip\

What do I do from here to run Hijackthis?????
