I have tried deleting the relevant entries with Hijack this, it comes back. Spybot and AdAware don't see it. I'm sure i'm missing something when i delete but i'm not brave (or stupid) anough to delete thisng i'm not sure of. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have set these restrictions do not fix. But I suspect that they were set when you installed Spybot. If so you can use Spybot to remove them of just fix it here.

Make sure your system is set to show hidden files and folders:

Reboot, on restart, restart in "Safe Mode".

Remove this file in BOLD if still present.

C:\WINDOWS\systb.dll
*
Run AdAware in SAFE mode.

When done and all files removed, reboot in normal mode.

Here are some suggestions to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future. I strongly recommend installing the following :
  • SpywareBlaster - It will prevent most spyware from ever being installed.
  • SpywareGuard - It offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • IE-Spyad - IE-Spyad places over 4000 web sites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
I also recommend reading this article.
