I recently found that some of my programs take a very long time to open. At the same time I should mention that my pc, when turned on, takes forever to load the startup programs [Norton, Zone Alarm & DSL connection]. I ran my hijack this log and it is clean as a whistle...ran Ewido Security Suite as well as Norton, Ad-aware & A2. I did a complete defrag and checked for errors....all came up clean. In particular when I have Windows Media Player open and am copying a cd to the drive it takes about 10 minutes to copy 1 song..normally it takes about 10 seconds...when I open Microsoft Word it takes about 3-4 minutes to open. Is there a service that I might have turned off that would have allowed my pc to boot the startup programs so slow as well as some of the programs I normally use [as described above]? [Using Win XP Home]

Thank you ahead of time for your assistance!

alguerrero,

Please create a permanent folder in My Documents and name it HijackThis.

Download HijackThis from here:
http://www.majorgeek...wnload3155.html

Save the file to the HijackThis folder created above.

Click on Hijackthis.exe to launch the program.

Click: Scan button
[Note: Please do not use HijackThis to fix anything yet.]

When the scan is finished the scan button turns into: Save Log
-Click: Save Log.
-The log opens in Notepad.
-Click on: Edit>Select All, then click on: Edit>Copy, and Paste the log on this thread for review.

Will take a look to see if there is something there causing the problems you are experiencing.
