      IE 11 copy/paste problem

      It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

Scan with Spybot Search & Destroy

 

Downloading and Installing

  • Download Spybot from one of the sites listed here: http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=mirrors
  • Close ALL open programs.
  • Install normally and when you get to 'Select Additional Tasks' be sure 'Use Internet Explorer Protection (SDHelper)' is checked. This will help protect you from future infections.
  • On the last screen make sure 'Run Spybot' is checked.
  • When Spybot starts it displays a wizard. Click Next on the Registry Backup screen.
  • Click 'Search for updates' then 'Download all available updates' when it becomes available. Click Next when the update it finished. **Please note it is important to do this before every scan as they update alot**
  • Click 'Immunize this system', click Next, then on 'Start using this program'

Scanning with Spybot

  • Click on 'Check for Problems'. It may take several minutes to finish.
    After the scan is complete it will display the problems in RED in the bottom section. Make sure all problems are checked off then click 'Fix selected problems.'
    Click Yes when asked for confirmation.
  • When it's finished close Spybot and reboot.

Then Download Ad-aware from: http://www.lavasoft.de/res/aaw6.exe

 

Install the program and launch it.

 

First, in the main window, look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now and download the latest reference files.

 

Next, we need to configure Ad-aware for a full scan.

 

Click on the Gear icon (second from the left) to access the preferences/settings window

 

1. In the General window make sure the following are selected:

  • Automatically save log-file
  • Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal
  • Safe Mode (always request confirmation)

2. Click on the Scanning button on the left and select :

  • Scan Within Archives
  • Scan Active Processes
  • Scan Registry
  • Deep Scan Registry
  • Scan my IE favorites for banned URL’s
  • Scan my Hosts file
  • Under Click here to select drives + folders, choose:
  • All of your hard drives

Click on the Advanced button on the left and select:

  • Include additional process information
  • Include additional file information
  • Include environment information
  • Include additional object details

Click the Tweak button and select:

 

 

Under the Scanning Engine:

  • Unload recognized processes during scanning
  • Include basic Ad-aware settings in logfile
  • Include additional Ad-aware settings in logfile

Under the Cleaning Engine:

  • Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot

Click on Proceed to save the settings.

 

Click Start and on the next screen choose Activate in-depth Scan at the bottom of the page and then choose:

Use Custom Scanning Options

 

Click Next and Ad-aware will scan your hard drive(s) with the options you have selected.

 

When finished, mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose Select All from the drop down menu and click Next).

 

Reboot your computer and post a new Hijack This log.
