I can't find this one in Pacmans list. I'm having lots of trouble with spyware and have tried everything, but I don't know if I can remove this.

- 04- HKLM\..\Run:[ioujdsb]C:\WINDOWS\kdlbvl.exe

Please let me know ASAP

Doesn't look good, but we would need to see the whole picture.
Please do this.
Download 'Hijack This!'. http://www.spywarein.../HijackThis.exe
Save it in a convenient permanent folder such as C:\HJT\, double click HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, Ctrl-A to Select All, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

I think I may have found the problem. In Msconfig in the startup list there is kdlbvl.exe, I have turned that off and now there are no more problems. But I need to know if I should delete this file altogether. Please help ASAP.

Also I've been told I may have too many anti-spyware programs. Can you tell me which would be the most effective to keep. I have BHODemon, CWShredder, Stinger, Hijack this!, AVG, SpywareGuard, Spywareblaster, Ad Aware, Bitdefender, PestPatrol, SpybotSD, and The Cleaner. All of which was to find this spyware.

Please help!!!!!

Hi,
1) Restart in Safe Mode (see "How To:" below)
2) Enable Hidden Files (see "How To:" below)

Locate and delete the following:

C:\WINDOWS\kdlbvl.exe <--this file

While still in Safe Mode:
Close all open windows, rescan with HijackThis and "Fix checked" the following:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {243B17DE-77C7-46BF-B94B-0B5F309A0E64} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ioujdsb] C:\WINDOWS\kdlbvl.exe

Restart normally and post a fresh log ...

Hi,
Your log looks clean now ... good job!

Just one minor item, let HijackThis "fix" the following:

O4 - Startup: Thumbs.db
O16 - DPF: {F00F4763-7355-4725-82F7-0DA94A256D46} (IMDownloader Class) - http://www2.incredim...er/imloader.cab

I'd also like to say there shouldn't be any incredimail in here

Ok, looks like the above was left behind ...

[Q] This shows up in your 2nd log but not the 1st?
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [VTPreset] VTPreset.exe

Locate VTPreset.exe, right-click and select: Propertes | Version
See if this belongs to your video card ... if not post whatever info is there.

I donít know if this belongs to my computer or not. I donít know how to find out. Hereís the info on it:

VTPreset
File version - 1.1.0.102 (at top)

Company - S3 Graphics, Inc.
File version - 1.01.00.0102

Also while trying to find this spyware I had downloaded heaps of software, which of these are best to keep? - CWShredder, AVG, Hijackthis, BHODemon, Stinger, Spyware Blaster, Spyware Guard, Ad Aware, Pest Patrol, Spybot Search & Destroy.

These two are just trials so Iíll remove them when the trial period is over. - Bitdefender, The Cleaner.

Jen,

Company - S3 Graphics, Inc.

It's a valid file, I was just pointing it out that VTPreset only showed up in the 2nd log.

These two are just trials so Iíll remove them when the trial period is over. - Bitdefender, The Cleaner.

All of those are fine ... however it's a bad idea running BitDefender and AVG at the same time. AVG is fine, I use that myself. Just make sure to keep the others updated.

Hi,
You're welcome ... glad to see you have resolved your problem.

I would suggest adding some "Defense" to your system ...
See section: How To: Prevent this from happening again?

I had trouble following the "how to prevent this from happening again" stuff. Pages go back and forth all over the place (I pay for the internet by the hour). I did a couple of things, but maybe this can be redone some time in "PLAIN ENGLISH" without linking to other pages all the time.

Jen,
Those pages are all tied together for a reason ... if I put everything all on one page is would take to long to load. The pages on my site shouldn't take that long to load anyway, I keep the page size down to a minimum for that reason.
