Hi, my computer has been running awfully slow lately so decided to find the reasons why but beginning to wish I hadn't!! I just downloaded a newer version of Adaware and deleted a load of stuff... I don't know quite how successful it's been, I still have these annoying WebRebates0.exe and WebRebates1.exe as running processes and have no idea how to get rid of them. I have just downloaded HijackThis so would be really grateful if someone could help with it!!

Thanks a lot :)

Move Hijackthis off your desktop (extract from zip)into a permanent folder. Example:
c:\program files\hijackthis\hijackthis.exe

This will allow backups to be made and saved By hijackthis in case something goes wrong.

Place a check next to the following entries, then close all open windows except hijackthis and click fix.

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {00000010-6F7D-442C-93E3-4A4827C2E4C8} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: frag soft info - {14AAE62F-D35F-05A9-07AA-F8DD71DC533A} - C:\PROGRA~1\WmaKnob\Rule Bore.dll
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WindUpdates] C:\Program Files\WindUpdates\WinUpdt.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [tdsmqrbl] C:\WINDOWS\System32\afeuse.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WebRebates0] "C:\Program Files\Web_Rebates\WebRebates0.exe"
O16 - DPF: {15AD4789-CDB4-47E1-A9DA-992EE8E6BAD6} - http://public.windup...417002f5b97a1db
O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://software-dl.r...ip/RdxIE601.cab

Then reboot into safe mode and delete these files.
C:\WINDOWS\System32\afeuse.exe

And these folders.
C:\PROGRA~1\WmaKnob
C:\Program Files\WindUpdates
C:\Program Files\Web_Rebates

You may have to enable hidden files to find all the files.

Then reboot and run another hijackthis scan and post your new log here.

Sometimes a few of the entries return, I wouldn't say its normal but it does hapen. The files aren't in the running processes so thats a good sign.

Run another hijackthis scan. Place a check next to the following entries, then close all other windows and click the fix button.

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WindUpdates] C:\Program Files\WindUpdates\WinUpdt.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WebRebates0] "C:\Program Files\Web_Rebates\WebRebates0.exe"

Then reboot into safe mode and delete these folders.
C:\Program Files\WindUpdates
C:\Program Files\Web_Rebates

You may have to enable hidden files to find all the files.

Then reboot and lets see one more hijackthis log.

You should read this to help prevent future problems.

Hi everyone. This is about Webrebates0.exe and Webrebates1.exe. I found a very simple method to figuring out a way to remove these from your comp.

I have Windows XP. The first thing I did was open the start menu and go to search. Typed in webrebates in the search of all files and folders and about 1 minute it showed the 2 processes called webrebates0.exe and webrebates1.exe.

Second, I open the Task Manager (Ctrl + Alt + Del). I find the two processes. Now you have to be quick. Have both windows open and when you choose to end process of one of the webrebates, you have to quickly move over to the search window and delete it before it comes back up on the task manager. if you did it quick enough, it should be gone. I did this 2 weeks ago, and i STILL dont have it showing up on task manager. Maybe its running secretly but i doubt it. Comps been running just great. Dont forget to download Ad-Aware and Spybot Search & Destroy.

This all should help out a LOT. well it worked for me, hope it does the same for you! :D
