Hello everyone!

I am fairly new to computer problems and this one is really getting on my last nerve. I have had run-in's with spyware and have been able to get rid of them, but this eludes me. Now this isn't specifically spy-ware I think, but it is just as annoying.

Everytime I startup my computer, after about 30 seconds or so, an Explorer messege pops up with this text:

"Explorer has caused an error in ~8968768289.TMP. Explorer will now close...etc"

So naturally to be able to do anything I have to move the dialog box to the bottom for the time being.

I managed to find the specific temp file and delete it. I think all is fine and I come back the next day and start my computer up again and up it comes, re-created again with a new date!

Can someone tell me what is going on and how to correct it?

Hi there and welcome to Spywareinfo.com.

Download 'Hijack This!'. http://www.spywarein.../HijackThis.exe. Save it in a convenient permanent folder such as C:\HJT\, double click HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, Ctrl-A to Select All, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Once that is done, someone will take a look at your log to see what needs to be done.

Since it doesn't appear you have an anti-virus program, it would be a good idea to run an online virus scan now.
http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm
or http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Report back with the names of viruses found and files infected.

Find this file:

C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\EUZXY.EXE

right click on it, choose properties, go to the version tab and post the info from there. It's a very suspicious file.

Using Housecall I found two viruses:

Viruses
TROJ Small.XC
TROJ STILEN.A

Files
C:\_RESTORE\TEMP\A0005676.CPY
C:\_RESTORE\ARCHIVE\FS60.CAB*A0005479.CPY*

The file EUZXY.exe was not present in my TEMP folder. I even used the search program and couldn't find it.

hi Alastor

Make sure you have hidden files & folders exposed before searching

go to search menu
click on tools then folder options
select tab view
make sure you have a tick in the box "show hidden files & folders"

Also before you fix trojans or viruses of any kind you need to disable your system restore, as viruses can remain in restore points. Once you have fixed then put your system restore back on.

Go back into HijackThis and (with all browser windows closed), remove the following items:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [msmc] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\msmc.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [EUZXY] C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\EUZXY.EXE
O16 - DPF: {39B0684F-D7BF-4743-B050-FDC3F48F7E3B} (FilePlanet Download Control Class) - http://www.fileplane...DC_1_0_0_41.cab
O16 - DPF: {A7798D6C-C6B5-4F26-9363-F7CDBBFFA607} (download Class) - http://www.gigex.com...eeddelivery.dll

Then delete these files:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\msmc.exe
C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\EUZXY.EXE

You may have to show hidden files and boot into safe mode to delete these files.

Reboot and then do an online trojan scan.

Reboot and post a new log.
