Go here and download the Roings uninstaller. Let us know how you get on.

Rescan with HJT and post a new log.

Followed instructions for "Roings uninstaller" and then tested system which still shows Roings when I run Ad-aware 6.181. I would just be thrilled if someone could help me figure out how to get rid of this. Makes me want to learn as much as I can about maximum protection against all this 'junk' floating around the internet and/ or how to fix so that I can help other people do the same thing.

As a side note....why does that uninstall program show up as a Malware file in Ad-Aware?

Make sure that you have no browser windows open as this could prevent the fix from working properly. Open HijackThis, scan and when complete, remove the following entries by checking the box to the left and clicking 'fixed checked':

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {27C5A7C5-E9DA-48A5-8947-05C9C7FB2FAE} - C:\WINDOWS\ugsuj.dll
O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} - http://207.188.7.150...tzip/RdxIE2.cab
O16 - DPF: {DB893839-10F0-4AF9-92FA-B23528F530AF} - http://deposito.host...ler/1014021.exe
O16 - DPF: {F5192746-22D6-41BD-9D2D-1E75D14FBD3C} - http://download.rfwn...m/cab/crack.CAB

Reboot when done. Check that your AAW is set up as follows - before scanning click on "check for updates now" to make sure you have the latest reference file. Then click the gear wheel at the top and check these options:

General> activate these: "Automatically save log-file" and "Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal"

Scanning > activate these: "Scan within archives", "Scan active processes", "Scan registry", "Deep scan registry", "Scan my IE Favorites for banned sites" and "Scan my Hosts file"

Tweaks > Scanning Engine> activate this: "Unload recognized processes during scanning."

Tweaks > Cleaning Engine: activate these: "Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion" and "Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."

Click "Proceed" to save your settings, then click "Start", make sure "Activate in-depth scan" is ticked green then scan your system. When the scan is finished, the screen will tell you if anything has been found, click "Next". The bad files will be listed, right click the pane and click "Select all objects" - this will put a check mark in the box at the side, click "Next" again and click "OK" at the prompt "# objects will be removed. Continue?".

Reboot when done. Rescan with HJT and post a new log here.

That's a clean log - how is it running now? To help keep you clean follow the recommendations in Tony's article here:

So how did I get infected in the first place?

So far so good. Have run AAW a couple times now with no sign of Roings! System integrity acting normally its seems.

Thanks so much!

As mentioned before, I am more determined then ever to learn about internet security so I can better protect myself and others even less savy with a computer then I.
