I would like to join the 'boot camp'.

Although I've done this with other forums, and all they were intrested in is HJT and TBH I have no intentions of ever learning that as i am old fashioned and use other tools.

If you want to train in Boot Camp, we begin with HijackThis and use it as a base to do other things... Given that, are you actually interested in training??

Please could you consider me for enrolment in the Boot Camp.

I am a kind of 'self-taught' computer guy from Cornwall, UK. I know a little bit about rootkits/malware, but I am definitely NOT an expert by any stretch of the imagination. I remove rootkits quite often, but I don't use the same methods that the experts in the Malware Removal forums use. My boss has some kind of subscription with Microsoft that provides him with MSDaRT software. So I generally remove rootkits by identifying the protected/hidden files/registry entries with GMER or RootRepeal. I then print out the 'log' files and boot the computer with an ERD Commander Boot CD which 'un-hides' and 'un-protects' everything. Then I remove the 'offending' files/registry entries manually with ERD Commander's file explorer and registry editor programs. And after that I use Avira, MBAM and other tools to 'clean up' and reset any remaining disabled services/permissions etc. It's a sort of generic 'seat of the pants' method I made up myself. It usually works, but it's obviously not foolproof.

However, I must admit that I have virtually zero knowledge about tools like HijackThis, ComboFix, Avenger etc. So I am wondering if some of my rootkit/malware 'fixes' were actually successful more by luck than judgement!

I would love to learn about HijackThis, ComboFix and the other tools your experts in the forums use. Also, if I get into Boot Camp and eventually qualify, I would love to help out in your Malware Removal forum. I am serious about this. And, if I get into Boot Camp, I will make a donation to the forum help with my training costs etc.

All the best.

~Mark.

If possible I would also like to enroll.
I hate malware from bottom of my soul and would like to improve my knowledge as much as possible to be able to fight malware more effectively. I'm not true expert but I have removed my share of different nasties. I also self-taught and have some experience using different tools like HijackThis, Autoruns, ESET SysInspector, DDS, ComboFix, DDS, RSIT, The Avenger and others.
I've also translated both Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and SUPERAntiSpyware into my native language (bulgarian) in an attempt to make them accessible to more and thus allow more users (who have any foreign language as a barrier) to clean their systems.
Please be understanding as English is not my native language.

The Boot Camp is a hidden forum where you can learn the ropes and advance to Helper. Experts and others will be there to guide you and answer your questions. A lot of good info there.

Just reply to this thread if you would like to be a Helper Trainee.

An Admin should turn up to admit you within a few hours. Watch for the "Group: Helper Trainee" to show up on the left there, under your name and avatar. (You may need to refresh the page).

Then you will be able to see the Boot Camp and go to Welcome to Boot Camp!

One of the Boot Camp Admins (Budfred or Indrid_Cold) will send you a PM outlining the steps to follow in your training.

Thanks for the chance to advance my knowlege

We are investigating. It seems you made an attempt at hacking back in 2003. Please tell us a little about yourself.
Note: We do not knowingly admit hackers.

When you have two posts you'll be able to send me a PM.

I've never made a hacking attempt so I don't know what your talking about. I want to learn how to remove malware and help others aswell. I have plenty of spare time to learn and time to enjoy learning. Hope that sums it up.

This has been resolved to my satisfaction via PM. cnm

Hi everyone. I am currently an existing support staff in a help forum, I will not mention the name as it may end up looking like an ad spam or sorts. I understand the way how a forum is to protect themselves from such actions.

Anyway, being someone who helps people in need , I would like to learn more in depth about malware fighting technics so as not to screw up someone's computer in the process due to a lack of proper training.

I have some exposure to hijack this logs and with some luck, actually solved some cases. I was actually referred here by some student from here. His nick at my forum was initially tylerisdabest, but changed to cat-bomb after a while. I remembered seeing cat-bomb in here previously, but i cannot find him anymore. Perhaps another name change was made.

Hope to be accepted . :)
