      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

8 posts in this topic

HI

Any help is appreciated!

I'm running XP prof. and Housecall does not find any virus

I use ad-aware and every time I run it, it comes up with a warning.

Possible browser hijack attempt

from ad-aware log:

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

Possible browser hijack attempt : Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MainStart Pageabout:blank

Possible Browser Hijack attempt Object recognized!

Type : RegData

Data : "about:blank"

Rootkey : HKEY_CURRENT_USER

Object : Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

Value : Start Page

Data : "about:blank"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

If I delete the file IE starts up with MSN homepage

Setting IE to blank results in a new warning running ad-aware and so on

I have downloaded registrar lite and put HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows in the adress field but the value field does not show any text !!

CWS shredder says I have no problem

here is the log from hijackthis (when i havent deleted the file in ad-aware):

Hi,

Ad-Aware has recently added the "About:Blank" as a "possible" detection. If you set your "Start Page" to something else (as a test) then run AWW you shouldn't see that detection.

You can have HijackThis "fix" the following:

O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://207.188.7.150/159afea9add2b9e00505/...ip/RdxIE601.cab

Otherwise your log looks clean ...

Note: I don't see any Antivirus running?

Thanks for the info about ad-aware recently added "about:blank" as a possible hijack. That is a little strange, isn't it?

No wonder then, that I had the problem.

Regarding Anti Virus

I only run housecall to check viruses.

Isn't that enough?

Thank You Very Much For Helping Me Out!

No! You need "Real Time" protection.

Give AVG a try, it's very light on resources, has frequent updates, etc.

FYI: that's what I use ...
