Reposted from Old Board here

For some time now there have been many users that have had errors when trying to update AVG 6 free, either it takes a long time before the download begin or you get an error stating that there is a problem with the internet connection

For help on this error try this

What server are you trying to d/l from? If you only have the one option from free.grisoft.cz try this.

Navigate to your AVG install directory and rename your existing url.ini file to url.iniold.

Copy the following and paste into notepad and save it as url.ini. Put this new file into your AVG install directory. You'll now have 3 options to select from with www.grisoft.com being the default.

[SERVER_NAME]
1=free.grisoft.cz
2=ftp.grisoft.com
3=www.grisoft.com

[SERVER_URL]
1=http://free.grisoft.cz/softw/60/fe
2=ftp.grisoft.com/pub/softw/60/fe/
3=http://www.grisoft.com/softw/60/fe/
Actual URL=3

*********************************************

You might have to restart your AVG control center before the changes takes effect

Thanks, Lappen - I had to do this on a new install of AVG this morning on a freshly formatted PC. That's a lifesaver.
Signature file is under revision. This will be back shortly.

Deleting all but the latest bin file also helps

AVG Anti-Virus About the updatefolder1: http://www.grisoft.c...php?id=10&sid=8

Can I delete previous AVG update files (d601????.bin files) from the UPDATE folder?
Yes. We recommend you keep only the latest update and if you have one the ctf file.
