About two days ago my IE on my notebook began to auto-launch regardless of what I was doing on the computer. When it does, it goes to an addy that says "Random Sites...Please Wait..." then it automatically connects to any of a plethora of porn sites!!!!!! I have run Adaware, Spybot and CWShredder. I even tried buying Pest Patrol, but all to no avail!! Here's my log from HijackThis.....I'm DESPERATE as I use my notebook (Pavilion ze4125) at work, and my boss is NOT the understanding type!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BUMP....and a BEG!

Need to add that now my home page is about:blank. How much WORSE does this get????? Everytime I rerun Spybot, the same errors come up even though I keep fixing them. I've made sure I'm offline when I run the programs (adaware, spybot, cwshredder).

MistyLyn:

Please, be patient. We are a little overwhelmed here.

The first thing that we have to take care of is a CoolWebSearch infestation. Download CWShredder from the link in my signature, run it a couple times, reboot, then post a new HijackThis! log so we can see what's left.

Sorry....I didn't mean to be impatient!! Here's the new log. CWShredder found only two "restored" IE pages the first time I ran it. The second and third times it came up "clean." THANKS in advance. You all are SAINTS to do this!!!! WHERE do I make a donation??

OK, I found the line in the log that listed that "Q" search toolbar, so I deleted it. Here's the new log:

Well, it's been over an hour and not ONE auto-launched page, my homepage is still intact and the QSearch toolbar is GONE!!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed, and thanking ALL OF YOU!! I will check back to make sure that there isn't anything else in the above log that I should get rid of, but for now, I'm one HAPPY CAMPER!! You all are the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am having a very small problem that started after cleaning my computer!!! Now the browser will no longer add the "http://" before the web addresses. I know it's a silly thing, but it's driving me nuts. Is there an easy fix for this?

Yes, a minor point. To reset these, run Hijack this again, and fix any and all O13 items in the log.

Reboot after fixing. That will set the prefixes back to ddefault, which is http://.
