      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

PLEASE READ - Reversing upgrade   02/23/2017

We have found that this new upgrade is somewhat of a disaster.  We are finding lots of glitches in being able to post and administer the forum.  Additionally, there are new costs associated with the upgrade that we simply cannot afford.  As a result, we have decided to reverse course and go back to the previous version of our software.  Since this will involve restoring it from a backup, we will lose posts that have been added since January 30 or possibly even some before that.    If you started a topic during that time, we urge you to make backups of your posts and you will need to start the topics over again after the change.  You can simply paste the copies of your posts that you created at that point.    If you joined the forum this month, you will need to re-register since your membership will be lost along with the posts.  Since you have a concealed password, we cannot simply restore your membership for you.   We are going to backup as much as we can so that it will reduce inconvenience for our members.  Unfortunately we cannot back everything up since much will be incompatible with the old version of our software.  We apologize for the confusion and regret the need to do this even though it is not viable to continue with this version of the software.   We plan to begin the process tomorrow evening and, if it goes smoothly, we shouldn't be offline for very long.  However, since we have not done this before, we are not sure how smoothly it will go.  We ask your patience as we proceed.

brower being hijacked

10 posts in this topic

hi,

My broswer is being hijacked by various browser hijackers which usually end in search. i have seen my browser hijacked to hot-searches.com, home-search.cc and get-search.cc. i have tried to get rid of it by using ad-aware and sbybot. when i run ad-aware it will find a couple of traces of spyware and remove it but not the browser hijacker. when i run sbybot it doesn't find the hijacker or it won't find any traces of spyware even though i know there is. can someone please help me get rid of my spyware and hijackers?

thanks.

this is my hijackthis log:

Create a new folder called C:\HijackThis, move the HijackThis.exe file into the new folder and run it from there. This is necessary to ensure you have backups should anything go wrong.

Make sure that you have no browser windows open as this could prevent the fix from working properly. Open HijackThis, scan and when complete, remove the following entries by checking the box to the left and clicking 'fixed checked':

thanks a lot for the quick response. i really appreciate it. i did what you told me to do and i restarted my computer and ran a new hijakcthis log file. except there's a problem. when i open an internet browser, it opens to an about:blank page. i went to internet options to change my default home page but i can't change it. the address section in internet options is not highlighted so i can not type anything in the box. what's happened?

you told me to fix R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank and i did. could that be the cause of my problem. what should i do now? hope you can help. thanks.

this is my new log file after i restarted:

thanks. i tried it and so far everything seems to be back to normal. i was able to go to internet options and change the default home page.

i ran a basic google search for dvds just then, and when i clicked on a link my browser took me to another site http://lender-search.com/. but then i tried another 3 web sites and it took me to the right pages. i clicked on the first web site i tried and it worked. it didn't take me to http://lender-search.com/. this is what was happening before. i am not sure what triggers the hijacker because if i click on a link sometimes it will take me to the right page or sometimes to a completely different page. i think i still have a hijacker. i ran hijackthis again and i found that some of the files that i fixed before have returned. once i fix files am i suppose to delete the back up files?

this is now the new log file:

yeh i did fix those when you told me to. then i restarted my pc and ran hijackthis again and those files came back up again.

the first time i ran hijackthis and fixed what you told me to fix, i didn't delete the back up copies that hijackthis made. was i suppose to?

You don't need to delete the backups, but you can if you prefer. I wonder if it's FlashGet that's affecting the O13's? The malware has gone from your log now - I'll leave this topic open for now so that you can post back if the hijacking re-occurs.

well no matter how many times i delete those files they keep coming back. so it could be flashget that's causing it. but so far those files dont seem to be causing any problem. i've been clicking on various links and so far i havn't been hijacked. so the malware does seem to be gone.

thanks a lot for all your help. i really do appreciate it. i've been trying to get rid of them for weeks.
