Copy the contents of the quote box to notepad.

Click File>Save As, give it the name myex.reg and under the filename set file types to All Files. Save it to the desktop. When done double click the myex.reg when asked to merge say yes.

Reboot. Delete these files if there:

C:\\Documents and settings\(username)\LOCAL Settings\Temp\HPCMDTY.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\System32\c_10230.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\crt32_v2.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\crt2_v32.dll
C:\spad <-- whole folder

Create a new folder called C:\HijackThis, move the HijackThis.exe file into the new folder and run it from there. This is necessary to ensure you have backups should anything go wrong. Make sure that you have no browser windows open as this could prevent the fix from working properly. Open HijackThis, scan and when complete, remove the following entries by checking the box to the left and clicking 'fixed checked':

When I copy and save the info to myex.reg in wordpad, the file type choices I have are Rich Text Format, Text Document, Text Document - MS-DOS Format, or Unicode Text Document. Which do I use?

Thank you so much for your assistance with the beginner that I am.

It's better, still a bit more to do. Could you click here to download CWShredder by Merijn Bellekom and run it, hit 'fix' as opposed to 'scan only'. Reboot when done.

Click here to download TheKillbox by Option^Explicit. Extract it from the zip file then double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Make sure the 'Create backup before deleting file' box is checked. In the 'Paste Full Path of File to Delete' box, copy and paste the following, clicking 'Kill File' after pasting each one:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\dispex.exe
C:\documents and settings\jake\local settings\temp\GHG.exe

Click 'Exit' when done.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again.

Open TheKillbox again, click File, Open!Submit and you will see a folder bearing the date that you used TheKillbox - zip it up and send to this e-mail address including a link to this thread in the body of the email.

With only HJT running, have it fix (if still there):

Reboot, rescan with HJT and post a new log for a final check over. Also create a StartupList log - run HijackThis, click the "Config" button, click the "Misc Tools" button. Check the boxes for both options: "List also minor ...", and "List empty ..."

Click the "Generate StartupList log" button (generates "startuplist.txt"). Scroll down to the following section (near the bottom):

Enumerating ShellServiceObjectDelayLoad items:

Copy and Paste the contents of that section only to your next post.
