I've run ad-aware, spy sweeper and spybot and still have prosearching coming at me. Tried to get to Hijack this but it won't let me go to site.
Any ideas??

Thanks,

Dave

Hello DaveB

First of all, you are running hijackthis out of a temporary directory. Can you please create a folder in My Documents and call it Hijack (or something similar). Then extract hijackthis into the folder you have created and run it from there. The reason for this is that Hijackthis cannot create backup files whilst it is being run from a temporary folder.

Have you installed the following Browser helper object and program? I can't find any information on them.

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {8F48CF9B-3CD0-F31E-34A4-6BC5D8A4E13B} - C:\PROGRA~1\GREATR~1\WAIT HOPE.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Test setup] C:\PROGRA~1\SHOWTH~1\Poll inside army.exe

If they don't mean anything to you could you put them in a zip file and send them to me at this email address

For now, run hijackthis again, make sure all browsers and windows are closed except for hijackthis, put a check against the following and click 'fix checked'

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = prosearching.com

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O1 - Hosts: 12.129.205.209 search.netscape.com12.129.205.209 sitefinder.verisign.com

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {4BCF322B-9621-4e90-9678-F1424EB7584E} - C:\WINDOWS\udpmod.dll
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {D714A94F-123A-45CC-8F03-040BCAF82AD6} - (no file)

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {D26791EB-20C3-429F-A0FF-30D8952C1AA5} - (no file)

O16 - DPF: {9EB320CE-BE1D-4304-A081-4B4665414BEF} (MediaTicketsInstaller Control) - http://www.mt-downlo...tsInstaller.cab

Then reboot and post a fresh hijack log for review, but this time could you include the header at the top of the log that tells me what version of hijackthis you are using and your operating system.

Hi DaveB

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier, Saturday night you know

Don't worry about sending the files to me we can sort this out anyway.

Can you navigate to C:\WINDOWS\vwbmr.exe, right click on the file and select properties and tell me what it says. For now rename the file to vwbmr.old

Then run hijackthis again and fix the following in the same way that you did before;

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {8F48CF9B-3CD0-F31E-34A4-6BC5D8A4E13B} - C:\PROGRA~1\GREATR~1\WAIT HOPE.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Test setup] C:\PROGRA~1\SHOWTH~1\Poll inside army.exe

Then reboot and delete this file

C:\PROGRA~1\SHOWTH~1\

Post a fresh hijacklog with the information about the file that you found earlier.

Hi DaveB

It was ok as saturday nights go!!

The only puzzle left in your log is this one

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [vwbmr] C:\WINDOWS\vwbmr.exe

Can you navigate to C:\WINDOWS\vwbmr.exe, right click on the file and hopefully you should see an option in the menu that says 'zip and email' or something similar. Send it to the address I gave you earlier and then rename it to vwbmr.old for now. Again you will find the rename option on your right click menu.
