I recently uninstalled AVG to try NOD32. Everything is fine, I do like the speed with which it scans my hard disk compared to AVG, but when I try to run either CWShredder or HijackThis while having NOD32 installed, the computer freezes and slows down quite a bit. Nothing of the sort happens while running much bulkier applications. The problem goes away when I uninstall NOD32.
Do you have any clue why this happens?

Just kill the auto-protect feature of NOD32 when you scan with CWShredder.
AVG's auto-protect works better than NOD32's, but NOD32 has a better manual scan engine - it's a tradeoff.

Signature file is under revision. This will be back shortly.

That never happened to me. I'm pretty sure I had nod32 set to check executing programs.
Do you have an older computer? Mine is pretty fast.

That is a matter of personal opinion and not a fact ... personally i found AVG to be one of the worst AV's of all that i have tried (and thats alot) i got infected left and right using it on Windows (although it has been a few years ago) ... the only worse one i remember trying was Bit Defender.AVG's auto-protect works better than NOD32's, but NOD32 has a better manual scan engine - it's a tradeoff.
Here is a comparison of the two since 1998:

I have had no problems or virus infections in almost 2yrs of using NOD 32 ... unlike the lame Norton AV i was running previously or the many Av programs tried in between.
Are you sure you uninstalled AVG completely? ... nothing bogs down a PC faster than 2 AV's fighting for control. I actually locked a drive up solid a few years ago when i installed Kaspersky alongside Norton's (it wouldn't even boot into DOS)I recently uninstalled AVG to try NOD32.
