      IE 11 copy/paste problem

      It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

Novice at scrubbing my computer

9 posts in this topic

I run Ad-aware 6.0 about 2-3 times a day and seem to have between 20-80 positive results. I leave my computer on 24/7, and am not always in front of it.

Recently, I had an odd window pop-open at random intervals advertising some sort of quick search, but it would close itself automatically, so I don't remember the exact info anymore. This would happen even if all browser windows were already closed, back to desktop with no windows open at all.

THe following is my hijackthis log:

Ran all the above, and here is the updated hijackthis log.

What concerns me is with the reboots, I was getting media player auto-running on boot. Now I notice something about a TV Media and wmplayer in the run section. I can't seem to find it under regedit, though.

Done and Done.

Notes of Interest:

Found a program by the name of "poring" in add/remove, but no wintools. Dumped entire folder of TVTools, but the folder was already empty. It -appears- that the WinTools may have been part of something installed by the name of PGate-Basic. I went ahead and did some reg-editing at the same time of the safe-mode to remove all notice of that. Not sure if that was spyware that had already been partially removed, but it was attempting to contact an internet site in order to uninstall it. Editing the registry seemed easier and safer in any case.

Thanks again for all the assistance. Found the last trouble part where media player was auto-running, and disabled that. Was a hidden registry entry.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg\mswspl]

"key"="SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Run"

"item"="wmplayer"

"hkey"="HKLM"

"command"="C:\\Program Files\\Windows Media Player\\wmplayer.exe"

"inimapping"="0"

Now that is gone, I believe everything is a-okay.
