EDIT: scrap what i said, the ezula icon is back. it seems to appear after i have been on the internet for a few minutes and it seems to be downloading something as it has a percentage next to it. also on the program list thing (ctrl alt del) there is a program running called "ezinstall" which when i stop, the percentage stops. theres is also a folder that keeps appearing called "eZula". thanks for the help in advance.

ADChick,

You're not really being ignored, we've just been really swamped!

Actually, your log looks pretty good - so let's take care of EzuLa.

Download Ad-aware from: http://www.lavasoft.de/res/aaw6.exe

Install the program and launch it.

First, in the main window, look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now and download the latest reference files.

Make sure the following settings are made and on ---> ON = GREEN

Next, we need to configure Ad-aware for a full scan.

1) Click on the Gear icon (second from the left) to access the preferences/settings window

1. In the General window make sure the following are selected:

Automatically save log-file

Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal

Safe Mode (always request confirmation)

2. Click on the Scanning button on the left and select :

Scan Within Archives

Scan Active Processes

Scan Registry

Deep Scan Registry

Scan my IE favorites for banned URL’s

Scan my Hosts file

Under Click here to select drives + folders, choose:

All of your hard drives

2) Click on the Advanced button on the left and select:

Include additional process information

Include additional file information

Include environment information

Include additional object details

3) Click the Tweak button and select:

Under the Scanning Engine:

Unload recognized processes during scanning

Include basic Ad-aware settings in logfile

Include additional Ad-aware settings in logfile

Under the Cleaning Engine:

Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot

4) Click on Proceed to save the settings.

5) Click Start and on the next screen choose Activate in-depth Scan at the bottom of the page and then choose:

Use Custom Scanning Options

6) Click Next and Ad-Aware will scan your hard drive(s) with the options you have selected.

7) Save the log file when it asks and then click Finish

8) When finished, mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose Select All from the drop down menu and click Next).

9) Reboot your computer.

Run a new HijackThis scan and post it here for further review.

Make sure all browser and all Windows Explorer windows are closed before fixing.

dont need this running:

C:\PROGRAM FILES\WINAMP\WINAMPA.EXE

unless you know what this is i would take it out:

C:\PROGRAM FILES\ARES\ARES.EXE

about this yahoo stuff, if you use the search bar leave it , if you dont take it off :

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D28-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - C:\PROGRAM FILES\YAHOO!\COMMON\YCOMP5_0_2_6.DLL
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\PROGRAM FILES\ADOBE\ACROBAT 5.0\READER\ACTIVEX\ACROIEHELPER.OCX
O3 - Toolbar: &Yahoo! Companion - {EF99BD32-C1FB-11D2-892F-0090271D4F88} - C:\PROGRAM FILES\YAHOO!\COMMON\YCOMP5_0_2_6.DLL
O3 - Toolbar: &SearchBar - {0494D0D9-F8E0-41ad-92A3-14154ECE70AC} - C:\PROGRAM FILES\MYWAY\MYBAR\1.BIN\MYBAR.DLL (file missing)

this isn't needed:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinampAgent] C:\Program Files\Winamp\winampa.exe

dont know what this is but does -h mean hide?:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ares] "C:\PROGRAM FILES\ARES\ARES.EXE" -h

this can go:

O8 - Extra context menu item: &Download with &DAP - C:\PROGRA~1\DAP\dapextie.htm
O8 - Extra context menu item: Download &all with DAP - C:\PROGRA~1\DAP\dapextie2.htm

should be good after this {SoW}Rob

Your log looks clean to me. Hopefully we've gotten everything.

Be sure you've got all the critical updates from Windows Update.

You're running Spywareguard and a firewall and that's good. You might also consider getting these free programs:

SpywareBlaster doesn't scan and clean for spyware - it prevents it from ever being installed.

IE-SPYAD puts over 4000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
