      IE 11 copy/paste problem

      It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

removing remnants of sasser?

3 posts in this topic

First, I’m very sorry for flauting the forum etiquette. I googled my problem and came directly to this page without seeing the forum FAQs. Sincere apologies.

Second, thank you very much Viccy and Budfred, for your quick replies. My decidedly not quick reply was due to me being away for the weekend, and also to being the sort of person who needs her full attention to deploy even the simple instructions you gave me. I applied them carefully, though, and these are the results:

1. Ran TrendMicro. It told me that each of my multiple problems were “not fixable”.

2. Ran Spybot. With that, I removed about 50 of the 55 red entries, but can’t—even after multiple runnings and rebootings—remove something called DSO Exploit.

3. Ran Ad Aware. Viccy, I couldn’t find it at your link—maybe it’s been moved?—but I found it easily here: http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10045910...page&tag=button

4. Ran HijackThis; logfile below. Viccy, I think this link may be broken too, but it’s easy to get from here: http://www.tomcoyote.com/hjt/

5. I also ran Trojan Hunter. If that logfile’s helpful, let me know.

Thanks again in advance. I look forward to regaining control of my computer, which I can hear laughing loudly at me. Today, I received my second letter from Time Warner Cable warning me of multiple complaints of port scanning originating from my computer. I hope I’m correct in assuming that Sasser has something to do with this.

<sorry>

CPU is at 100% usage...tired of rebooting. I'm sure this isn't a top priority problem (vs. a hijacking) but I'd love to know how I can protect myself from this in the future. I need some help both eradicating the evil processes and reconfiguring my router + firewall.

Thanks again in advance.
