      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

Windows Explorer freezing

8 posts in this topic

I've been trying to remove CWS (..again..) for the last two days, but each time I reboot in 'Normal Mode' Explorer freezes on the first thing I try opening!

I am to the point where I think wiping my HD is a good idea, however I don't have a boot disk (yet) [Win98 Gold]. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Can you try this first:-

Please download Hijack this

Copy it into its own folder, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.

Press that, save the log, do Ctrl-A to Select All, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Thanks~

...but, well, therin lies the problem. I've been trying to run a new log since it "fixed" the problem [it hasn't been] Saturday, but each time I attempt to open HJT [or anything!] the Explorer window either:

never even opens and does not respond

opens and freezes while displaying window contents.

This goes on for dozens of resets, disappears in Safe Mode, and [miraculously!] this morning was absent when I was able to make this log: [copied from my thread in Malware]

Logfile of HijackThis v1.97.7

*sigh*

bump

So, does anyone know why Windows Explorer freezes each time I use the desktop icons or Start-button Menu, and only occassionally if I use Toolbar shortcuts? Anyone?

Well, the latest version of CWShredder should remove this variant with no problem. Do you have the latest update?
