I have tried with many unsuccessful attempts to rid my system of this. I have read most others problems, but have been unable to eliminate it. I need the tech world's help. Also my secure webpages are not showing up. When I try to log into my bank's webite it says "Cannot Find Server"

Hi sfblackandblue,

You need to post the whole Hijack This log in order for anyone to help you. You are missing the top part which is important too. It tells what kind or computer and windows you have. You are also missing the bottom part which tells the kind of webpage, toolbar, browser, startups you have in your PC, among other things. So please, run HJT again and post everything you see in notepad.

Good luck!
THEY CAN HIDE, BUT THEY CAN'T ESCAPE!

Hi sfblackandblue,

Firstly, you need to uninstall New.Net. Can you see this article here for removal instructions. It looks daunting, but that should do the trick for you.

Then can you close all applications, leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against the following items:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://mypoiskovik.com/sp.htm
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://mypoiskovik.com/index.htm
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://mypoiskovik.com/index.htm
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://mypoiskovik.com/sp.htm
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://mypoiskovik.com/index.htm

Optional fix, this one is not malware but it is a resource hog:

O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA9.EXE

Did you lock the control panel yourself via Spybot search and Destroy (probably not - I didn't see the log line for it). If not, can you please check these two lines as well...

O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present

Click on Fix Checked, and exit HijackThis. Reboot your system and post another log and we'll give it another once-over.
If you don't know what eschatology is then don't worry; it's not the end of the world.

Sfblackandblue,

You've got an IRC Trojan :alarm: as identified by these lines here:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\winlogin.exe
O4 - Global Startup: winlogin.exe

Can you use the Task Manager (Control-Alt-Delete), locate that running process (winlogin.exe), and end it. Exit Task Manager. Please do not end the process Winlogon as that is a valid Windows file!

Close all applications down and rerun HijackThis. Place a check against the following items and hit Fix Checked:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://mypoiskovik.com/sp.htm
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://mypoiskovik.com/index.htm
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://mypoiskovik.com/index.htm
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://mypoiskovik.com/sp.htm
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://mypoiskovik.com/index.htm
O1 - Hosts file is located at: C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
O4 - Global Startup: winlogin.exe

Reboot, and update your virus definitions. Turn System Restore off and run a full virus scan.

Turn System Restore back on, and post a fresh HijackThis log.

It's this that might be blocking access to secure websites, amongst others:

O1 - Hosts file is located at: C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

Make sure the system is set to show all files and folder, and to not hide extensions for known file types. See this article for further information.

Navigate to that folder and delete the hosts file there; it has no extension, so if you see hosts.sam, hosts.txt, or anything else, then do not remove it.

If you don't know what eschatology is then don't worry; it's not the end of the world.
