      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

And I forgot to say that I cannot do a system restore at this point, it goes through the motions, but after reboot tells me its incomplete and cannot restore to the point, also norton gave me the alert but said it could not do anything with the file.

Hi,

There is nothing in your log to indicate a problem ...

Norton picked this trojan up but does nothing for me

What trojan? Where is it located?

I forgot to say that I cannot do a system restore at this point

System Restore will not work if any of the files contain infected items, see the "How To" links below for more info.

Sorry it was downloader.mscache, in the log (nortons log) it says under "action" "access denied", and or "repair failed" it seems that norton had tried ten times or so and each time it says the same thing. Also it says it's located or source is Winnt\system32\randomiser.exe, but I have tried to search for it and can not find it.

Hi,

I have tried to search for it and can not find it.

First thing to do is ...

Reconfigure Windows Explorer to show Hidden Files:

Open the Windows Explorer Folder Options - View [tab]:

Scroll down to the "Files and Folders" section.

Select: "Display the contents of system folders".

Scroll down to the "Hidden Files and Folders" section.

Select: "Show hidden files and folders", Ok the prompt

Uncheck: "Hide file extensions for known file types"

Uncheck: "Hide protected operating system files" Ok the Prompt, click Apply

Click the "Apply to all Folders" button. Close Windows Explorer.

Then reboot, on restart, restart in Safe Mode (see "How To" below)

Open Windows Explorer locate and delete the following:

C:\Winnt\system32\randomiser.exe

Note: Downloader.MSCache print out that article, and follow the instructions for the Registry entries, etc.

Hi winhelp2002, I Had most of the file views already setup the only one I didn't was "Hide protected operating system files" unchecked, then followed your instructions as well as tried to follow the instructions on the symantec site. but none of the files were there, matter of fact I have not been able to complete a new norton scan since yesterday, the blue screen that comes up while scanning refers to "kernel stack inpage"? and at the bottom says something about memory dump. not sure what this is, at this point trying to make it happen again soI can read again.

Thanks for all your help

SDM,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with NAV, I don't use that so I can't be of much help there. Have you tried running it in Safe Mode?

would you believe this thing seems to have fixed itself, well maybe it had something to do with NAV's latest update, but I was able to scan today, and of course it also found no virus on my computer, go figure! anyway thanks for all your help
