Hi.

my IE home page (about:blank) is hijacked by some spyware, it makes about:blank to be some search page. I ran HijackThis and it always find a .dll file in the registry and BHO with that .dll file. I delete those files and the problem is fixed - or so I think. The next time I boot, the problem is back - this time under a different .dll file name. I remove all the registry keys with it and the actual .dll from the system32 folder and again its ok. The next time I boot - guess what? its back on another name. This is really frustrating, I appreciate any help I can get. I think this is some sort of Trojan. Some of the .dll's I have to delete were: opba.dll, bdbk.dll and one more I can't remember. I would include a Hijack This log file but it won't be useful because I removed all the crap already - next reboot, it'll be back on a new name I am sure. Any help in removing this trojan greatly appreciated! Thanks guys.

EDIT: I've attached dllfix and hijackthis logs, I hope I am clean - i have been cleaning registry/startup and .dll's all day.. arghh

I'm pretty sure I have a nasty variant of cws trojan that keeps coming back up, I think I have removed everything because hijackthis isn't showing anything and my browser seems to be working ok - but thats what it does everytime and then comes back.

If anyone can analyze this log for me and give me some kind of information I would be eternally grateful, this has been very frustrating for me. THANK YOU.

the only two BHO's I should have should be adobe acrobat and google toolbar, I removed the others..
i also removed some ncase and casino crap I got rid of a long time ago from the registry and startup (dunno why it was there, the exe's don't exist anymore)

here is a hijackthis log just for final examination:

I have the same one. This seems to be a newer, particularly nasty breed of the same old tricks.

Those sp.html entries seem to be it's calling card.

The about:blank dll is either masquerading as a system dll or has added itself to a list of standard loadable dlls and is being loaded by any of a number of MS apps.

I've seen the IE main reg keys created and modified by IE, Outlook, Windows Explorer, dexplore, Word and some other apps that I can't recall. There also seems to be a time of day element associated with it which makes me suspect an infected service.

I continue to monitor file activity, dll loading, registry actions and am slowly moving in for what will be a satisfying kill.
