I have tried twice to install and run AVG Freeware.

I keep getting an error message that SHELL.DLL is not available. Is there a quick and easy solution to this.

What Windows are you running? In XP the file is in C:\WIndows as part of the installation.

Please do this:
Start->Run, enter cmd.

In the DOS window, enter sfc /scannow
This will attempt to restore any missing or corrupt Windows system files.

I ran it....it completed the process and I got no response...ie, the dialogue box with the progress bar went away, but nothing else showed up to give me any results of the search.

Do you have your Windows installation disk?
