Hi,
I have had a number of adware/spyware programs running on my Toshiba laptop, slowing the operations. The most annoying was the Blazefind search assistant which as hijacking searches on IE. (I know, I know - don't use IE or anything MS, but compatability is still a problem).

I have been running CWShredder for ages, update Norton's AV daily, and recently installed SpyBot 1.3. At first Spybot found Blazefind and said it had removed it. However it immediately returned. I went to the Symantec site and followed their manueal removal instructions precisely. All the designated registry entries were there (ie infected) and removed as per instructions.

Now Spybot says I am completely infection free, and the searches no longer seem to be hijacked, but the Search Assistant toolbar remains on the browser. Is there still some entries I have not yet cleared?

My Hijackthis log:

Run another hijackthis scan. Place a check next to the following entries, then close all other windows and click the fix button.

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = about:blank
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = about:blank
F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\Windows\System32\wsaupdater.exe,
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {53707962-6F74-2D53-2644-206D7942484F} - C:\PROGRA~1\SPYBOT~1\SDHelper.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {83DE62E0-5805-11D8-9B25-00E04C60FAF2} - C:\WINDOWS\2_0_1browserhelper2.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows SA] C:\Program Files\WindowsSA\omniscient.exe

Then reboot into safe mode and delete these files.
C:\Windows\System32\wsaupdater.exe

And these folders.
C:\Program Files\WindowsSA

You may have to enable hidden files to find all the files.

Then reboot and run another hijackthis scan and post your new log here.

Gosh, I have been moving around too much to get back to this issue.
I had been suspicious of the WindowsSA file and the omniscient program but those both first appeared after doing a Microsoft Windows upgrade!!!

Anyway I have done as you have recommended. Thanks very much. Here is the current logfile:
