Hi all

I've looked through the FAQ and run norton, ad-aware and Spybot S&D, but everything's registering as clean.

Whenever I start my PC I get a rash of pop-ups and usually one full-page ad for someone like Goldfish or Scottish Widows. After a few pop-ups the following IE Script Error appears:

An error has appeared on the script on this page
Line 2    Char 1  Code 0
URL: http://ads.rampidads...wad.php?p=2&t=3
Do you wish to keep running scripts on this page [YES/NO buttons]

I keep pressing no, and keep checking through to find anything on my system that could be playing silly b*ggers, but no luck.
The ads keep reappearing, the script error comes up again, and so the long day draws on..

Here's a Hijackthis log...

Hi,
First thing to do is ...

Reconfigure Windows Explorer to show Hidden Files:
Open the Windows Explorer Folder Options - View [tab]:

Scroll down to the "Files and Folders" section.
Select: "Display the contents of system folders".

Scroll down to the "Hidden Files and Folders" section.
Select: "Show hidden files and folders", Ok the prompt
Uncheck: "Hide file extensions for known file types"
Uncheck: "Hide protected operating system files" Ok the Prompt, click Apply

Click the "Apply to all Folders" button. Close Windows Explorer.

Next:

Close all open windows, except for HijackThis place a check in each of the following:
Then click "Fix checked".

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MyVBApp] C:\WINDOWS\SysNT.exe

Then reboot, on restart, restart in Safe Mode (see "How To" below)

Start | Run (type) "%temp%" (no quotes)
Completely delete the entire contents of that "temp" folder.

Open Windows Explorer locate and delete the following:

C:\WINDOWS\SysNT.exe <--this file

Restart normally and then ...

Resize your browser cache, then rebuild the cache folders ...
How To: Delete the Internet Explorer Temporary Internet Files
http://www.mvps.org/...02/delcache.htm

Note: resize the cache limit, then completely delete the cache folder.

After the above ...

Important!
Your system is severly out of date!
Visit Windows Update and install all the "Critical Updates"
http://v4.windowsupd.../en/default.asp

After the above post a fresh log ...
