First off, I have a pop-up blocker that I d/led from www.endpopups.com. It works well (it used to anyway), and without any drawbacks that I could see (that is, no ads or IE toolbars), but I'm sure there are better popup blockers out there. Any recommendations? It can block regular IE popups, but not dialog boxes (or whatever their called) that ask you if you trust such and such a company to install such and such on your computer. Many a time I've accidentally hit enter while the focus was on the yes button :(

Anyway, moving on, my computer has lots of stuff on it I suppose. I've had Ad-Aware for almost a year now, but basically I'll run it and it'll find a bunch of stuff and take care of it, then I'll wait a few hours, maybe a day, and by then all the exact same stuff will be back, which is annoying. I just got Hijack This after irrationally not d/ling it sooner (too lazy, you know how it goes), and the log is posted below. Basically, I ahave lots of slow down especially with IE. There are popups getting through the popup blocker and they will still come when I unplug my ethernet cord, which says to me it's spyware. Every other day there is some annoying toolbar installed in IE, and it freezes my comp once in a while and does weird stuff (for example, one time I couldn't open more than one IE window at a time, because if I did it would freeze and I'd have to ctrl+alt+del the second IE).

Also, after I start my computer and login there are some obviously malicious processes running, some of which are only on my account and are not present when I login as my brother. One set of processes is the whole wintools things, and then there is another weird set. There will be two processes, and if I close one then another will open to take it's place in a matter of seconds. The names are just arbitrary combinations of letters, but it only cycles through like 5 different ones so it's easy to spot. I can only close the processes if I do both of them quickly before another has a chance to replace one. If I don't close them then weird stuff happens (programs randomly close, the computer acts like I'm holding down the alt key, the mouse misclicks, etc).

Well anyway, here's my first HT log; thanks for all your help!

Oh yeah, one other thing.

Sometimes, I will not be able to use the internet. It happened once after I tried uninstalling WinTools from Safe Mode, and it happened again later but I can't remember the conditions (I think I was uninstalling something, maybe trying WinTools again). I have a cable modem, and even though the ethernet cord was plugged in and the computer could detect, no program had access to the internet and they all acted like I was disconnected. In both instances, I fixed the problem using System Restore.

PLEASE REPLY!
