ive been having some problems (obviously) with my homepage lately.. it gets switched to:

and whenever i try to enter a website into the address bar, it normally gives me something like:

http://ehttp.cc/?www.yahoo.com
ive run programs like hijack this, it only really works temporarly to solve this problem... and will normally come back within a few days..

i asked a friend with computer know how, he told me to run windows update.. but when i tried, i was sent to a default page instantly.. i also dug around in the windows file to find it, but it still gave me the same response website (http://v4.windowsupd.../en/default.asp)

ive gotten around bugs and viruses before.. but this one seems to be tricky, and i dont think i can do it without help :weep: .. im sorry if i got this in the wrong section, i know a little about this kind of stuff... but not a lot.. help?

Let's have a look. Please do this.
Download 'Hijack This!'. http://www.spywarein.../HijackThis.exe
Save it in a convenient permanent folder such as C:\HJT\, double click HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, Ctrl-A to Select All, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Please download CWShredder
This was written to deal with Coolweb and all its variants.

Download and run the program. Let it fix everything it finds, and reboot.

Run Hijack this again, and post a fresh log so we can deal with whatever is left.

You should now be able to set you own choice of homepage from Internet Options. Your log looks clean.

Are you still having problems?

Here are my standard additional recommendations.

SpywareBlaster doesn't scan and clean for spyware - it prevents it from ever being installed.
http://www.wildersse...areblaster.html

IE-SPYAD puts over 4000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
http://www.staff.uiu...rce.htm#IESPYAD

Both are very small free programs that you run once, and then just occasionally to check for updates.

And also see TonyKlein's good advice
So how did I get infected in the first place?
