Home user here so forgive in-experience

I.E. very slow (About 3mins per page!!) On broadband so pages usually load within seconds.

Have followed FAQs, ran Spybot, Ad-aware, CWShredder, Norton virus check and read posts to remove CWS trojan, about:blank and other parasites/viruses but think something still there.

Close all programs, tick the following for removal in HJT, and hit "Fix Checked:"

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MyWebSearch Email Plugin] C:\PROGRA~1\MyWay\bar\1.bin\mwsoemon.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [load32] C:\WINDOWS\System32\swchost.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Update Service] C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\TEKNUM~1\update.exe /startup
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Spyware Begone] c:\freescan\freescan.exe -FastScan

Reboot.

Find and delete the following files and folders:

c:\freescan\
C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\TEKNUM~1\
C:\WINDOWS\System32\swchost.exe
C:\PROGRAM FILES\MyWay\

Scan again with HJT and post the new log into a reply to this thread.
Signature file is under revision. This will be back shortly.

Thanks for quick response,

Have done as requested and deleated C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\TEKNUM~1\ but could not:

Find
c:\freescan or
C:\WINDOWS\System32\swchost.exe

Have deleted C:\PROGRAM FILES\MyWay\ except for following files

MWSSRCAS.DLL + MWSBAR.DLL as following warning comes up

Cannot delete file access denied.
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use

(Thanks to Tuxedo Jack for help so far)

Have managed to delete all MyWaySearch files (eventually!!!) but IE still
slow.

Still cannot find c:\freescan or C:\WINDOWS\System32\swchost.exe

Have ran Adaware, spybot etc several times since and nothing shows up????

Would appreciate some more help to get comp back to normal as my final option is to restore to factory state (and let those b*****ds win!!)

Hope this info helps anyone else with slow browsers.

Have managed to get IE running at normal speed again. (GREAT!!!!!)

I was running Norton Internet Security 2002 but apparentley this was slowing down the browser (don't know why?) after disabling it my browser is now as fast as ever.

Apparentley 2002 version is "not supported" any more so I couldn't contact them for help or to get a copy of the program to un-install/re-install
(stinks of 'buy the latest 2004 version of Norton blah...... blah........ otherwise your buggered)

Dowloaded Zone Alarm firewall (free) from Zonelabs.com and this works fine. :D

Won't be renewing my subscription to Norton

That's OK, but don't forget an Antivirus program!

AVG free edition from Grisoft is effective, regularly updated, and you cna't get cheaper than free!
Well thought of by many of the regulars here.

I do have Norton Anti Virus.......until my subscription expires!
Then I will get AVG.

One thing though, do they 'work' as well as the big name/well known pay programs. Don't get me wrong, it's great these types of free programs are available but like the saying goes "you don't get something for nothing".............. or am I just being naive

AVG is about as near as you can get to something for nothing!
It is at least as effective as Norton or Mcaffee, and uses a lot less of your computer's resources, thus not slowing it down as much.
