I have read the FAQ and followed the instructions the best I could understand them. I have installed, updated and ran spy-bot and ad-aware. (Both of the programs crash often when I try to run them.) They found many problems and fixed them, but there are still more. Here is a list of the pop-up sites that I am still getting:

http://www.mydishpro...ffil=1918-popup
http://allaboutsearc...mail.yahoo.com/
http://azoogleads.co...8-popup&eid=630
http://66.33.0.35/sp...s/adv/tdw1.html
http://bingoliner.com
http://oneclickcash....eads-1918-popup

and IPs
65.61.157.153
69.20.62.53

Additionally, a search bar is now attached to my browser - its called 01Mapi.

Thanks for the help,
Rob

Here is my log from HJT:

Forgot to mention this in my initial post.

The process winlogon.exe is really causing problems. About 20 minutes after booting up it soars to using 100% of my CPU, causing everything to essentially freeze and making me reboot.

TOPText not in add/remove programs list
WarnStyle.exe not found. I tried a search, also not found
Mmod.exe search found two results, neither in ezula/. One was in SpyBot archives and the other was Windows\prefetch\MMOD.EXE-27399B09.pf (I deleted this file)
TrendMicro virus scan found nothing
Ad-aware could not remove this file: c:\windows\system32\6co4svc.dll. Suppose to remove after reboot.
Spy-bot ran fine
I installed and ran Trojan Hunter, but was not able to get the latest update because I was using the trial version – no trojans found

The one bad app I still see is Addestroyer. Check in "Add/Remove Programs" to see if it is listed, if so uninstall it.

Check Symantec site for removal instructions and please post a new log one that is done.

(PGPhantom, hope you don't mind me jumping in here)

Hi,

First, can you please locate this file - c:\windows\system32\cdlsp.dll and email a copy of it to me - EMAIL ME HERE. I believe that's part of an adware/spyware program called CouponDeals, but I haven't seen the file so I'd like to make sure before we go through removing it (please don't try removing it manually, as if you do it incorrectly, you'll be left without an internet connection).

Once you've emailed that, please reboot to Safe Mode, then open Add/Remove Programs and uninstall Wintools from there if listed. Please also see if there's a listing for Coupon Deals or something similar and report that in your next post.

Still in Safe Mode, with all other windows closed, scan with Hijack This, put checks next to all the items quoted below that remain and then click Fix Checked.

O3 - Toolbar: 01Mapi - {38D67C21-B3AD-3AE3-762E-305D2AF56F21} - C:\PROGRA~1\MAILMO~1\Road Proc.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe

Close Hijack This, then delete this folder - C:\PROGRAM FILES\MAILMO~1 (it will have a longer name starting Mailmo...)

Reboot to normal mode, scan again with Hijack This and post a new log here.

I emailed you the requested file.

I did not find either of those programs in my Add/Remove list, but there were a few that I wasn't familiar with so I thought I'd post them:

Internet Explorer Q831167 – Last used 6/21/04
Learn2 Player – Last used 12/31/03
MProcessor – Last used 6/19/04
RTL Setup – no date given
Upapp – no date given

Every time I run Ad-aware it finds a bunch of entries for VX2.BetterInternet with a bunch of files under windows\system32\. It can always remove them except for this file: 6vo4svc.dll or sometimes apcwiz.dll. It tells me it’ll try to remove that file after reboot. But it (and then a bunch of others) always comes back.

Here are the popups that I am still getting:

Edited to remove incorrect O10 Fix - Thank you ZUPE for catching that :)

Can you do the following and see if you are still having any problems (If so, post a new HijackThis log):
Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:
  • Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
  • Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
  • How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.
To protect yourself further:
  • IE/Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
  • Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.
I also suggest that you delete any files from "temp", "tmp" folders. In Internet Explorer, click on "Tools" => "Internet Options" => "Delete Files" and select the box that says "Delete All Offline Content" and click on "OK" twice. Also, empty the recycle bin by right clicking on it and selecting "Empty Recycle Bin". These steps should be done on a regular basis.

Hi,

Please download and run LSPFix from here: http://cexx.org/LSPFix.exe . On the opening screen, click the "I know what I'm doing" checkbox. Check all instances of "cdlsp.dll" (and nothing else), and move them to the "Remove" pane. Then click Finish.

Next, please download VX2Finder from here: http://www.downloads...g/VX2Finder.exe . Start the program, then click the "Click to find VX2.BetterInternet" button and then the "Make Log" button. A log should open in Notepad, please copy and paste the contents of that here.

Ok, please start VX2Finder again and click the "Click to find VX2.BetterInternet" button then click the "Delete these files" button. It will tell you one file needs to be deleted on reboot and will ask you to reboot, do so.

Once you've rebooted, start VX2Finder again and click these buttons:

User agent
Guardian.reg
Restore policy

Reboot again, then start VX2Finder again, click the "Click to find VX2.BetterInternet" button and then the "Make Log" button. A log will open in Notepad again, please copy and paste the contents of that here.

Please also run a new Hijack This log at that point and post it here.

Hmm,

The VX2Finder log is clean, but a few other things showed up in the Hijack This log. Close all open windows, then scan with Hijack This, put checks next to all the entries I quote below and click "Fix Checked". Reboot, scan again with Hijack This and post a new log.

The DSO Exploit entries reappearing are due to a bug in Spybot S&D where, when it tries to fix them, it does so incorrectly, so they show up each time. There's a manual fix mentioned here or you can wait for an update to fix the problem which will likely come out soon (if it hasn't already) - http://forums.net-in...opic=17159&st=0

Otherwise, the Hijack this log looks clean, any further problems?

If not, to reduce the chances of future spyware/hijacking problems, please follow the suggestions here: http://www.wildersse...ead.php?t=27971
