I've fallen victim to the same bug as several others have this week: my IE simply cannot open hotmail.com or msn.com. When I press the login button on the main screen, I get a "Page cannot be displayed error." I've scanned with Spybot and Ad-aware, to no avail. I've heard that some Windows Updates could solve this problem, but when I go there, it does not work. I've tried downloading Netscape, but it does not install. In addition, XP Service Pack 1 and 1a, which Microsoft says can solve the Windows Update problem, cannot install. Both they and and Netscape give the same network connection error just before installation begins.

I have a suspicion that all these occurences are related in the form of some nasty bug. If you search in google this hotmail error, you will see that there is a growing number of people afflicted by this problem.

This is my log...assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I have exactly the same problem. Actually, this is why I came here and registered in this forum. Glad I'm not the only one.
This is not a start page or search page problem as we usually see. It only happens on hotmail/msn login page. When I click "OK" on that error alert popup, the login window closes and a new AD window pops up. Tried all suggested methods but no dice.

Hey again,

First download Ad-Aware 6.0. Install it. Run it and update by hitting the globe in the top right hand corner and then connect. When it sais found new reference file hit ok. Then hit finished.

Secondly hit next and right after than scan. The program should scan for files. Once it is done hit next. Check the boxes fir removal next to all the items in Ad-Aware. Then hit next to start removal. Restart your computer.

Run Hijack This again after the restart and tick the boxes next to these items (if present)
