Hi brunski_82.

Lets do a bit of cleanup before we go any further.

Would you please download the Spybot S&D program from here Spybot S&D 1.3 and install it.
  • Select Search for updates.
  • Then select all available updates that are displayed in the white box.
  • Select a download mirror nearest your location.
  • Then select Download updates .
  • Shut down and restart Spybot.
  • Select the Search and destroy icon and click on Check for Problems.
  • Delete/fix anything that spybot lists In RED.
While spybot is running, a counter will be displayed in the lower left corner like xxxx/13734.

Note that this is the latest version of Spybot S&D. The old version (1.2) is nolonger able to be updated.

Next:

Choose one of these, they are online virus scanners,
run one of them and have them fix anything they find.

Panda
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/co...n_principal.htm

Trend Micro
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

Then go here please, for an online Trojan scan.

http://scan.sygatete...trojanscan.html

Then, please run Hijack This again and post a fresh log here.

Hi brunski_82.

I would strongly suggest that you make a printout of this, to refer to as you work. I find that is easier than trying to remember everything. Also , you can check off each item as it is finished and not worry about missing something.

Refrence the Trojan scan reporting an open port. This is sometimes caused by inadequate protection. Having a good firewall could aleviate the problem. Below you will find a link to Zone Alarm, which has a good free firewall for personal use, another for kerio and a link to sygate which may be the best, but also the hardest to use. Note that it is not a good idea to run two firewalls simultaneously.
http://www.zonelabs....sku_list_za.jsp
http://www.kerio.com/us/kpf_home.html
http://smb.sygate.co...cts/spf_pro.htm

Would you mind checking the Properties on the following file and telling us what it says ?
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [dmloader] C:\WINDOWS\System32\dmloader.exe

To check a files properties: Right click on the file and select "Properties". This will sometimes give you information such as the size, attributes, version number and often the maker.
From this you can often determine if it is good. If it doesn't tell you who made it and you can't find it in Google, it is probably bad and should be fixed with Hijack This.

Is there anything you could tell us about this R1 ? I was unable to make a determination whether it is good or bad. Perhaps you know its origin ? It seems to come from Adelphi,is it possibly your Internet Service Provider ? If so,do not fix it.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = 68.168.160.2:80

Next:

You are running hijackthis from your desktop, this is not a good idea because when we do a fix hijackthis will create backups and they will be spread all over your desktop. Can you please create a folder in My Documents and call it Hijack (or something similar). Then extract hijackthis into the folder you have created and run it from there. When you have done that, delete the copy of hijackthis that you have on your desktop.

RE-Run HijackThis and place a "check" next to each entry listed below and hit the "Fix Selected" button. Please note that the order of these selections may have changed and some may no longer be present, due to being deleted by one of the programs we have ran previously.
Also, please close all windows including this one BEFORE FIXING WITH HJT.

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\blank.htm

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [jusbul] C:\WINDOWS\ljorbqvs.exe

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following are user optional. To keep or fix with HJT as you please.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
For TkBellExe: This is unnecessary to run at Startup, but it will need to be turned off in the program as well as fixing it here,or it will simply put itself back here... By the way the Program is Real Player.
See the following url for more information on TkBell,to help you make an informed decision.
http://www.mikescomp...m/TkBellExe.htm

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background
Windows Messenger utility. If you don't use Windows Messenger, this can be annoying. Available via Start -> Programs. Go to Windows Messenger > Tools > Options > Preferences and uncheck "Run this program when Windows starts"

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Yahoo! Pager] C:\PROGRA~1\Yahoo!\MESSEN~1\ypager.exe -quiet
Yahoo! Messenger allows you to send instant messages. Available via Start -> Programs

O4 - HKCU\..\RunOnce: [ICQ] C:\Program Files\ICQ\Icq.exe -trayboot
Bitdefender anti-virus for file transfers via internet messaging clients such as ICQ and MSN Messenger. Unless you have these running all the time start it manually

O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE
Unnecessary at bootup. Can be started manually when needed, if you wish.

Unless you or a network Administrator set this 06 Policy, let HJT fix it.
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present

Next, make sure you have Set Windows to show Hidden Files & Folders, then reboot into safe mode and find then delete the following in bold:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\blank.htm

C:\WINDOWS\ljorbqvs.exe

Then, please remember to reset the hidden files and folders settings and reboot into normal mode.

Then please REBOOT, before running Hijack This.

Then, please run Hijack This again and post a fresh log, just to be sure we got everything and to tell us what you learned about the items you are checking for us.

The R1 you were asking about is my ISP, so I did not fix it.
dmloader.exe didn't have any info on it...but dmloader.dll is the DirectMusic Loader, and is associated with Direct x

Thank you

Here is my new log file, does everything appear to be in order now?

Hi bronski_82

Thanks for checking those things for us. It confirmed what we suspected.

As a rule, if we check a file and find nothing anywhere, as we have with this one, it is determined to be bad. The good ones don't usually hide.
The 04 dmloader.exe, is probably a spoof of the file dmloader.dll to avoid detection, however,it would be wise to take precautions. Hold onto the file in the recycle bin and in Hijack This backups, until you can be sure it is not needed.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
RE-Run HijackThis and place a "check" next to the entry listed below and hit the "Fix Selected" button.
Also, please close all windows including this one BEFORE FIXING WITH HJT.

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [dmloader] C:\WINDOWS\System32\dmloader.exe

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Delete the following File shown as dark:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\dmloader.exe

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Otherwise your log is clean as a hounds tooth.

Just to be on the safe side, you could run HJT again and post the log here.

For your Protection - It is suggested that you download and install:

SpywareBlaster will block bad ActiveX and malevolent cookies. http://www.javacools...areblaster.html

IE-SPYAD puts over 4000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
http://www.staff.uiu...rce.htm#IESPYAD

Both are very small free programs that you run once, and then just occasionally to check for updates.

And also see
So how did I get infected in the first place?

Hello brunski_82.

That is good news about no popups.
I use the google toolbar, which has a built in popup stopper. When adjusted correctly you will get a minimim of popups surfing the net and it all but dissapears into your windows toolbar and has its own search window. It is a very handy addition.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your log looks clean to me.
Congratulations on the sucessful cleanup. :D
