For Windows processes, see the Black Viper website. Very good information there.

For Startup Programs, try Answers that Work Tasklist.
That will giv you the information to decide for yourself, exactly what you need, as everone uses their computer differently, and what works for you may not work for others.

Of course, you do know ending a process from Task Mgr is as temporary as the next time you start Windows.
Failure is not an option, it comes bundled with the software.

Yes ending the task within the manager will not end it for good...
Question: I can end the task with in the Task Manager to test if I need the process and if there is a problem then I can reboot and it should restore itself...right? Or wrong?

Yes, end task with task manager to see if it is needed. If it was, then it's big red switch time!

If you find it unnecessary, it can be ended using the method given on the Blck Viper site.

So this morning I went from 34 to 22 running processes (useing the task manager)and I found two that I will need to turn back on (lexmark printer stuff). I guess now after i reboot I'll have to find all these little pests and turn them off for good...or change there activity to only run when ask to do so.

Side note:
I re-ran the 3Dmarks test and I got my best score yet, but only by a small margin...less than 100 points.
