pkohorn:

Don't worry. You just have a little redirector problem that we can get rid of.

Run HijackThis! again and put a check mark next to the following items:

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {6CC1C918-AE8B-4373-A5B4-28BA1851E39A} - (no file)
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - _{CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file)
O1 - Hosts: 12.129.205.209 search.netscape.com12.129.205.209 sitefinder.verisign.com
O4 - Global Startup: Search.vbs
O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - http://bar.mywebsear...html?p=ZRxdm202

The following line is optional to check. It isn't necessary to run at startup and only wastes system resources:

O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA9.EXE

I would seriously recommend checking this line as well:

O8 - Extra context menu item: Shorten URL - http://www.cjb.net/menuext.html

Once you've checked those items, click "Fix Checked", then let HijackThis! do its work. After it finishes, reboot and post a follow-up HijackThis! log to this thread so we can see if you're clean.

Also, after you're clean, I recommend that you update to Windows 2000 SP4 by going to Windows Update. They added a great many security additions and bugfixes to that service pack, and it's been shown to be stable and not break applications extensively.

The Spie,
Thanks for the quick reply.
I've done the tasks and here is the latest Hyjackthis log.
Looks like it got cleaned up. The interesting thing, is that the system had to reboot twice and I was a bit worried but it came back the 2nd time.
Thanks again.
Paul

Your log looks clean now, but I can't emphasize enough the importance of updating to Win2K SP4. Please, go to Windows Update and do that immediately. After it's installed, go back to Windows Update and download all available security fixes (some of which only work with SP4).
