I'd just like to know if anyone has actually gotten rebates back from Symantec after buying Norton products.

The reason i'm asking is 2 months ago I sent for a $20 mail in rebate and have gotten nothing. When I asked my cousin who also uses Norton products he told me about another company who sends a letter in the mail saying you did not send in the needed information to get your rebate and my cousin is 100% positive he did everything correctly, i'm starting to think Norton has screwed me w/ my rebate, it's been 2 months.

Somebody give me good news I hope. Thanks!

you know, I had the same problem! We bought Norton's AV 2004...sent in everything they asked for before the date specified on the form (and I double checked to make sure we sent *everything* they asked for). About a month later, we received a letter saying they could not send us a rebate because we didn't send them everything *sigh*
I dunno what's up with that :(
Also had the same problem with a Microsoft product rebate...

Speakin of Microsoft, I bought that NEW Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 "A Century Of Flight", I got it the first day it came out so Staples had it for $30, I sent in for a $20 rebate that night, I just got an email this morning from Microsoft saying they have received my rebate request and are currently looking it over. They may beat Norton out, at least Microsoft was nice enuf to let me know they got my rebate request, Microsoft even has a "check the status of my rebate" link in the email which is cool...

As I was writing the above message my friend just signed and I asked him if he's ever gotten Rebates back from Norton, he told me a long time ago, so I guess thier's still hope...If I get it before I die ill be sure to post that I did...I'm 25 yo now so i'd like to have it sent to my coffin if it still doesn't come.

Well if Symantec doesn't send my rebate i'm gonna cancel Norton, not like it would be a huge loss anyways since thiers way better AV products on the market now.

I'm also pissed at Norton for makin' me pay $80 over the phone for telling me to go to sarc.com, I called that number in hopes someone would stay on the phone with me and help me get rid of a virus, 2 seconds after they got my CC# they told me "sir, your problem can be fixed if you go to sarc.com and search for your specific virus", I was like ummm for $80 aren't you gonna help me get it off my computer", then I heard "CLICK" which was them hanging up on me...I ended up getting rid of the virus myself with out using Norton...

i personaly think most rebates are border line scams.
they are run in the hopes mosts are not even asked for and those that are are gone through with a fine tooth comb to find the slightest exscuse to reject them. and many are just plain rejected to get to keep the full amounts.
i absolutely refuse to buy a product with a rebate.
i don,t like scams.

Rogue, i'm 100% serious, I was so pissed and when I think about it I still am. I could of used part of that $80 to upgrade to Norton 2004, when my norton suscription runs out i'll already have a NEW anti virus choice available. As of now i'm looking into eTrust by Computer Associates & NOD32 or BitDefender...If something newer comes out by then i'll check that out too...

Now I know NEVER to call Norton for virus help, i'd rather pay a computer doctor place to get rid of something I dont know how to...

Rebate? Symantec? I have yet to be successful in obtaining a rebate over the years.

I just received yesterday in the mail (7/22/04) the reject postcard - you know, the one that says Thank you blah blah blah unfortunately couldn't honor due to the following reasons blah blah blah. No surprise, but am very mad at myself for AGAIN being gullible.

I believe I have FINALLY learned not to get sucked in by the lure of the Symantec rebates & will next year buy another antivirus software.

Just my 2 cents worth - VL
