After removing a spyware (newdotnet) with X-cleaner problably a bit too brutally, one of my collegues could not access the Internet anymore.
After running Hijackthis, we found it was a problem with the windows socket and that this software was the solution:

lspfix.exe, from this page

It's probably well known, but I didn't find it here so thought it could be interesting for other people, too.
Anyway, as this is my first post but I had a lot of help from the answers posted to the problems of others, thank you very much to the SWI team, keep the good work coming :D

Yes, it's a useful program BUT if it is used incorrectly, it can completely wreck your internet connection. The advice usually given here is not to use it unless advised.
Be wary of strong drink. It may make you shoot at tax collectors, and miss!

Well, that WAS the problem, absolutely no more traces of an internet connection... AND that spyware was specifically mentioned for causing the problem... I think the conditions were ideal tu use it. I agree that it isn't an all-problems-solution, but specifically, no more internet connection after removing newdotnet with X-cleaner, that is a good diagnostic, isn't it?
