      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

PLEASE READ - Reversing upgrade   02/23/2017

We have found that this new upgrade is somewhat of a disaster.  We are finding lots of glitches in being able to post and administer the forum.  Additionally, there are new costs associated with the upgrade that we simply cannot afford.  As a result, we have decided to reverse course and go back to the previous version of our software.  Since this will involve restoring it from a backup, we will lose posts that have been added since January 30 or possibly even some before that.    If you started a topic during that time, we urge you to make backups of your posts and you will need to start the topics over again after the change.  You can simply paste the copies of your posts that you created at that point.    If you joined the forum this month, you will need to re-register since your membership will be lost along with the posts.  Since you have a concealed password, we cannot simply restore your membership for you.   We are going to backup as much as we can so that it will reduce inconvenience for our members.  Unfortunately we cannot back everything up since much will be incompatible with the old version of our software.  We apologize for the confusion and regret the need to do this even though it is not viable to continue with this version of the software.   We plan to begin the process tomorrow evening and, if it goes smoothly, we shouldn't be offline for very long.  However, since we have not done this before, we are not sure how smoothly it will go.  We ask your patience as we proceed.   EDIT: I have asked our hosting service to do the restore at 9 PM Central time and it looks like it will go forward at that time.  Please prepare whatever you need to prepare so that we can restore your topics when the forum is stable again.

Elitie;

Why don't we do a few things before going any further. There are some suspicious entries in your log that bear further investigation.

Please use the following link and get an online scan for Trojans.http://scan.sygatetech.com/pretrojanscan.html

Next:

Please use the following link and get an online Virus scan.Panda

http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/co...n_principal.htm

Next:

You say you have already scanned with Ad-aware and Spybot.

Before you scanned, did you update Ad-aware ? If not, please update now and then re-scan.

If you are not using the new Spybot S&D, Version 1.3 , then please go and download V1.3 and re-scan. Version 1.2 is no longer able to be updated and is not viable.

Then, please re-run Hijack This and post a fresh log here.

Hello Elitie;

The first thing you should do is go immediately to Microsoft.

Take this link to Windows Update and get all Critical Updates.

You are seriously behind doing the most important thing in keeping your system protected.

http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please take the following link for an additional Trojan scan.

Trial Version of Trojan Hunter.

http://www.misec.net/trojanhunter/

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you are not using a firewall, please get one of these now.

Below you will find a link to Zone Alarm, which has a good free firewall for personal use, another for kerio and a link to sygate which may be the best, but also the hardest to use. Note that it is not a good idea to run two firewalls simultaneously.

http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/cata...sku_list_za.jsp

http://www.kerio.com/us/kpf_home.html

http://smb.sygate.com/products/spf_pro.htm

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then;

Could you please check the properties on the following. Take note of what each says and pass that information to us on your next post.

To check a files properties, you Right click on the file and select "Properties". This will sometimes give you information such as the size, attributes, version number and often the maker.

From this you can often determine if it is good. If it doesn't tell you who made it and you can't find it in Google, it is probably bad.

C:\WINDOWS\System32\NDrv.dll

NAVSCANNER32.EXE

C:\WINDOWS\System32\NDrv.exe

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next:

RE-Run HijackThis and place a "check" next to each entry listed below and hit the "Fix Selected" button. Please note that the order of these selections may have changed and some may no longer be present, due to being deleted by one of the programs we have ran previously.

Also, please close all windows including this one BEFORE FIXING WITH HJT.

Note that some may not be present due to some action taken previously.

The following entries are optional, or known resource hogs. If you have noticed an overall slowdown in your computer, consider shutting down some of these. Please read the description following each and check mark for "fixing" (or follow

instructions for disabling) according to your needs.

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [msnmsgr] "C:\Documents and Settings\Moe\Desktop\msnmsgr.exe" /background

MSN Messenger utility. If you don't use MSN Messenger, this can be annoying. Available via Start -> Programs. Go to MS Messenger > Tools > Options > Preferences and uncheck "Run this program when Windows starts

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [bss] C:\Documents and Settings\Moe\Application Data\obep.exe

UBS (United Bank of Switzerland) banking software

This is not necessary at startup and can be fixed with HJT. This does not delete the programs, only prevents them from starting at boot time and conserves resources. They can be loaded manually when needed.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next, make sure you have Set Windows to show Hidden Files & Folders, then reboot into safe mode .

Next:

Please go into Add/Remove Programs and Remove the following. Please be sure to identify these correctly before removing. If you are unsure about your identification please leave them, then report back here your findings.

Microsoft Update msconfg.exe

Microsoft Update Machine dskqapk.exe

Microsoft Update Time wuam.exe

Microsoft Update msconfg.exe

Microsoft Update Time wuam.exe

Microsoft Update Machine dskqapk.exe

Microsoft Update Machine dskqapk.exe

Microsoft Update msconfg.exe

Microsoft Update Time wuam.exe

If you are unable to locate these in Add/Remove Programs, do an All Files search, then delete them. If possible find the folders and delete them, before deleting any files. Delete, Microsoft Update, Microsoft Update Machine, Microsoft Update Time and so forth.

Be sure to reset to hide Hidden Files/Folders after you finish.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then please REBOOT.

Next:

Please run Hijack this again and post the results here so we can see if anything further needs to be done.
