      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

How do I reset Search Assistant?

1 post in this topic

I recently cleaned up a bunch of problems in my system. I use Adaware, Spybot, and ZoneAlarm. Along with Norton AntiVirus.

Even though I have heard of potential conflicts between Adaware and Spybot, I have not had any problems at all.

I also keep the Spybot resident running during IE sessions. I did have a problem with the "about:blank" returning as the start page, but that has since gone away. I have now been able to lock the search page to Yahoo.com, and it stays that way. Some previous history: I was able to get some files off of my computer. These were apparently associated with the spyware from "purityscan". Since that has been taken off, [no thanks to THEIR uninstaller, which was worthless] I don't have the same problems as before. I also deleted a file called Ndrv [App] and Ndrv.dll [dll file] from the windows/system32 folder.

Now, the problem is this: The "Search" button on the IE Toolbar, will only point me to one search engine. I want to be able to use the "Search Assistant" feature in IE 6, to utilize more than one search engine. IT SHOULD show all of the search engines that I select in the "Customize Search Assistant" dialog box, after I click "Customize" at the top of the search pane, left side of the browser. It won't do it right. I click "Search" on the toolbar, the search pane comes up on the left side of the browser window [right now I can only use one at a time, so it's set to Yahoo], and when I click customize, I get the "Customize Search Settings" dialog box. From that point on, it will only let me pick ONE search engine. The settings for showing multiple search engines [by clicking in the button that says "Use search assistant - allows you to customize your search settings"] does not work.

If you look at my log, you will notice some entries associated with a web page called "sp.html". This was PREVIOUSLY in the folder under C:\Documents and Settings\Dad\Local Settings\Temp. I have sinced moved this web page off of my harddrive. All it really showed, was a "funky looking" search page, not anything like IE should be using. Since I have moved it off my harddrive...no problems. This problem, as well as a couple of files associated with CoolWebSearch [which keeps changing

I'm using WindowsXP SP1, with Internet Explorer 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2. This is the log:
