Try to run your spybot, etc... in "save mode" and let me know if it was successfull or not.

Mad Max,
I have read your link, but I'm not sure I'm qualified to do any of these jobs.
In fact, I'm still collecting information/software for myself to protect my pc and I like to share my knowledge/experiences with other users as a "member". So I read alot about protection software. The more I know, the better but it takes alot of time to read all that stuff.

As you can verify, I wrote only a few posts here and offered only, what I call "safe help" and all the rest were just thoughts or points of view.

My help (running anti-spyware in "Windows safe mode") was based on what have learned from freeware "Bazooka Spyware Scanner".
Bazooka detects 542 very nasty spyware-objects, but does NOT remove them.
But the user is guided to a website, than contains instructions to remove the spyware MANUALLY and some of these instructions needed to be executed in "Windows safe mode".
Sometimes you can't remove spyware, because the approperiate file(s) are in-use and in "safe mode" you have alot lesser "files-in-use", than in "normal mode".

So I like to be a "member" for awhile until I consider myself qualified to become a "Helper Trainee".
I'm very new here and I'm still catching up my reading in this forum.
I'm not a fast reader, because my first language is Dutch (Belgium) and I have to translate each post.
I guess you noticed my dutchy English already. :D

Hello mcalvillo;

I would suggest that you make a printout of this, to refer to as you work. I find that is easier than trying to remember everything. Also , you can check off each item as it is finished and not worry about missing something.

You have a wintools infection so lets deal with that first.
With Windows XP it may be in SERVICES.

Go to Start>Run and type "services.msc" (no quotes) and DISABLE Wintools.

It could also be in your Processes. Right click on your Taskbar and click on Processes. Then look for wintools or any variation and click on it, then click on End Task.

Next:
After running Spybot S&D you failed to REBOOT. Without a reboot Spybot cannot finish what it has to do. Also, if you are running Spybot 1.2 you need to download Spybot 1.3 and run it. Version 1.2 can no longer be updated and is no longer viable.

Next:
If you did not update Ad-Aware before you ran it, then you should get the latest updates. Then adjust the settings to get the deepest scan possible.
- Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Scanning Engine:
check: "Unload recognized processes during scanning."
- Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Cleaning Engine:
Check: "Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."

Press "Scan Now"

- Check option "Use Custom scanning options"
- Check option "Activate In-Depth Scan"
- Press "Select drives\folders to scan"
- Select the active partition which is usually C:

Now press "Next" to let Ad-aware scan your drives...
It will find a number of "bad" files and registry keys. Click 'Next' again
Right-click in that pane and choose "select all"

If it finds "bad" files and registry keys, press "Next" again
It will ask you whether you'd like to remove all checked items. Click OK.

Finally, close Ad-Aware, and reboot.

Next:

You are running hijackthis out of a temporary directory. Can you please create a folder in My Documents and call it Hijack (or something similar). Then extract hijackthis into the folder you have created and run it from there. The reason for this is that Hijack This backup files may be deleted if it is being run from a temporary folder.

When you have done this, then make sure all browsers and windows are closed except for hijackthis and put a check against the following and click 'fix checked.
Note that some items may not be present, due to being fixed by one of the Programs you have just ran.

The following entries are optional, or known resource hogs. If you have noticed an overall slowdown in your computer, consider shutting down some of these. Please read the description following each and check mark for "fixing" (or follow instructions for disabling) according to your needs.

Again, these are all considered to be completely optional for the user.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
For TkBellExe: This is unnecessary to run at Startup, but it will need to be turned off in the program as well as fixing it here,or it will simply put itself back here... By the way the Program is Real Player.
See the following url for more information on TkBell,to help you make an informed decision.
http://www.mikescomp...m/TkBellExe.htm
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Weather] C:\Program Files\AWS\WeatherBug\Weather.exe 1
WeatherBug displays the current weather conditions. WeatherBug is ad supported and shows banners and pop up advertisements. There is also an ad-free version.

You are running MyWebSearch (or MyBar). This is not technically malware, but it is thought to be bad by many experts and it will bring malware with it. There are safer alternatives available such as the Google toolbar. I recommend that you remove it. Here are the components to fix with HJT and you will need to remove the main program as well:
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {00A6FAF1-072E-44cf-8957-5838F569A31D} - C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\SrchAstt\1.bin\MWSSRCAS.DLL

Use this link for additional information and to help you make an informed decision.

O2 - BHO: myBar BHO - {0494D0D1-F8E0-41ad-92A3-14154ECE70AC} - C:\Program Files\MyWay\myBar\2.bin\MYBAR.DLL

http://www.kephyr.co...bar/index.phtml

These 016s seem suspicious, so it would be a good idea to fix them and if they are legit, they will be replaced the next time you visit the site from which they originated.

Then go to Add/Remove Programs and Remove Wintools and any variation of it, such as wintools A, wintools B and so forth. While still in Add/Remove Programs look for ANY listing of TV Media and Remove it also.

Note that they may not be present, due to being removed by one of the fixes we have made previously.

EricAlbert,

First of all thanks for helping me, i appreciate it .
Now, I did as u told me. When i restart my Pc now.. i get the following :
Runner Error
Could not load the target dll (C:\program files\backweb\backweb client\6.2.3.66\program\backweb.dll, error code 126)
Also, when i rebooted in safe mode and tried deleting the folfer Wintools, i still gives me access denied (make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that is not currently in use)
But, when i go to ADD/REMOVE Wintools is no longer there.

My Log :

Hello mcalvillo;

I would suggest that you make a printout of this, to refer to as you work. I find that is easier than trying to remember everything. Also , you can check off each item as it is finished and not worry about missing something.

It appears you may have missed some things while working on your last log and that's why it may look like we are doing some things which we have done previously. Please let me know if there is any part of this you are unable to accomplish.

It appears that Wintools is still running in Services,or you would not be getting those " access denied " messages in safe mode.

To disable services in Windows XP.

Start>Run(type)"services.msc"(no quotes)in the Run box.

Then look for Wintools and DISABLE it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next:

Run HijackThis and place a "check" next to each entry listed below and hit the "Fix Selected" button.
Also, please close all windows including this one BEFORE FIXING WITH HJT.

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {707E6F76-9FFB-4920-A976-EA101271BC25} - C:\Program Files\TV Media\TvmBho.dll (file missing)

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {0494D0D9-F8E0-41ad-92A3-14154ECE70AC} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MyWebSearch Email Plugin] C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\bar\1.bin\mwsoemon.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [LDM] C:\Program Files\Logitech\Desktop Messenger\8876480\Program\BackWeb-8876480.exe

O4 - Global Startup: Updates from HP.lnk = C:\Program Files\Updates from HP\137903\Program\BackWeb-137903.exe

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next: Go to Add/Remove Programs and look for Backweb and Remove any mention of it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then please REBOOT.

Then please run Hijack This again and post a fresh log here , to see if we need to do anything further.
Also it would be a good time to mention anything such as error messages or any other irregularities.
