      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

PLEASE READ - Reversing upgrade   02/23/2017

We have found that this new upgrade is somewhat of a disaster.  We are finding lots of glitches in being able to post and administer the forum.  Additionally, there are new costs associated with the upgrade that we simply cannot afford.  As a result, we have decided to reverse course and go back to the previous version of our software.  Since this will involve restoring it from a backup, we will lose posts that have been added since January 30 or possibly even some before that.    If you started a topic during that time, we urge you to make backups of your posts and you will need to start the topics over again after the change.  You can simply paste the copies of your posts that you created at that point.    If you joined the forum this month, you will need to re-register since your membership will be lost along with the posts.  Since you have a concealed password, we cannot simply restore your membership for you.   We are going to backup as much as we can so that it will reduce inconvenience for our members.  Unfortunately we cannot back everything up since much will be incompatible with the old version of our software.  We apologize for the confusion and regret the need to do this even though it is not viable to continue with this version of the software.   We plan to begin the process tomorrow evening and, if it goes smoothly, we shouldn't be offline for very long.  However, since we have not done this before, we are not sure how smoothly it will go.  We ask your patience as we proceed.

I have been having A LOT of trouble trying to just get my computer started. I don't remember exactly what the messages said when I tried to turn the computer on, but it said something about missing files and not be licensed for Microsoft. I'm sorry I didn't write down exactly what it said but maybe someone here knows what the problem might be. This is what it said when I typed that command into IE:

Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; {ADB01380-D6AB-43BE-9F82-EC08BEC9C6BD})

And here is my new HJT file (I still seem to be getting pop-ups):

Yup, I thought you had look2me.

Download this: http://www.downloads.subratam.org/VX2Finder.exe and run it

1-Click "Click To find Find VX2.Abetterinternet"

2-Delete all files found

You will get a message about "cannot delete this one" matching the same name in the Guardian Key.

3-Click "Open regedit" will take you right to the Guardian Key(no need to search for it)

4-Highlight "Guardian", RightClick and choose Security/permissions, you'll get another window with 'advanced'...

DE-select (uncheck) the lower box with "inheritable permissions"

Hit 'ok' and 'remove' on the following security prompts.

Restart computer.

5-On restart use VX2Finder again, select + delete the last file, click "User Agent$" will remove that entry from the registry.

6-Click "Open regedit" again, this time restoring the checkmark in "inheritable permissions"

7-Click "Guardian.reg" in VX2Finder Deletes the Guardian Key.

8-Use Find again should produce a clean log of blank values.

9-Click "Restore Policy" to restore the Debug policy altered in the look2Me installation.(requires reboot to apply, but not immediatley neccessary)

Afterwards, post a new HJT log here and then copy and paste this into the address box of internet explorer:

java script:navigator.userAgent

Post the results here again.

And here's what it said when I typed in the command:

Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)

Thanks again! :)

Looks like look2me is gone from your computer.

Tick the boxes next to all these entries, close all other windows, then click "Fix Checked." After that, reboot your computer into Safe mode (tap F8 key repeatedly when your computer boots up):

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinTools] C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools\WToolsA.exe

In Safe mode, delete the following folder as indicated:

C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools\ <-folder

Then reboot again and post one more HJT log...

Were you able to delete these entries in HijackThis:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinTools] C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools\WToolsA.exe

O16 - DPF: {87067F04-DE4C-4688-BC3C-4FCF39D609E7} - http://download.websearch.com/Dnl/T_50038/QDow_AS2.cab

Reboot into safe mode and have HijackThis remove them there. Then, while in safe mode, go ahead and find and delete this folder:

C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools\ <-folder

If you have to, make Windows Show Hidden Files to be able to find it (print the instructions if need be).

Once you've done this, reboot back into normal mode and post a new HJT log.

I deleted: O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinTools] C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools\WToolsA.exe but I guess it just keeps coming back? Do you still want me to try and delete it again?

Have you tried it deleting it in Safe mode with HJT, then deleting the folder that's responsible for starting that entry up when your computer loads?

If not, then try again by removing the entry with HJT. And have HJT fix this entry as well:

O16 - DPF: {87067F04-DE4C-4688-BC3C-4FCF39D609E7} - http://download.websearch.com/Dnl/T_50038/QDow_AS2.cab

Then delete the corresponding folder while in Safe mode. Here's the path and location to that folder:

C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools\ <-folder

If you have to, make Windows Show Hidden Files to be able to find it (print the instructions if need be).

Then reboot and post another HJT log here please.

I deleted both in HJT but when I rebooted in Safe Mode I couldn't find the WinTools folder... here's my new log:
