I have a persistent problem. I ran Adaware about three times. Each time I have Adaware fix the problems, but when I relaunch IE the homepage is still hijacked.

There are other problems I keep noticing:
First, while shuting down my PC: I get an error message that "Win Min" is not responding and needs to be forced to quit.

Next, I have problems when opening MS Word documents from my personal folder "My Documents." I get error messages that the program is not responding and needs to be shut down.

I've searched other forums and this problem seems to stem from whatever virus/trojan infected my PC. But I don't know the solution. I need help.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Here is my HiJack This Log:

Hi Peter Ustinov
First download CWShredder by Merijn Bellekom
Check for an update just to make sure you have the latest version. Click fix and let it delete whatever it finds. Be sure you click fix and not scan only.
Then restart your computer and with all browsers closed check and click fix checked for the following that are still present-

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://topotun.com/sp.htm
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://topotun.com/index.htm
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://topotun.com/index.htm
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://topotun.com/sp.htm
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://topotun.com/index.htm
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {96A2A856-5068-496F-A95F-1D9A017579AE} - C:\WINDOWS\mrhop.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [IEengine] C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEengine.exe
O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler.exe
These if you did not place them-
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
Restart your computer and delete
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEengine.exe<=File

You are also in bad need of your security updates and patches-
Internet Explorer
Windows updates

Oltramp, thank you for your help.

I did as you said and all the problems have stopped.

When I shut my PC off, I no longer get the "win min" error.

When I launch Internet Explorer, the homepage is no longer hijacked.

And when I try to open saved MS Word documents, they open.

I will now modify my Windows programs with the links you provided to the Microsoft security updates.

Thanks again. Very helpful website. :D
