Hi there,
Thanks for taking the time to look at my hijack this log.
I have a sneaking suspicion that all is not well with my computer. I get an icon in the tray that indicates a McAfee update download (green w/yellow arrow)but it is always at 0% and doesn't let me click on it.
When I do a manual update, this disappears.
I also get "messages" supposedly from McAfee asking to verify my subscription even though I have just done this through signing in and verifying.
You know those feelings that something just isn't right???
Then this morning, my puter just restarted when I went to open a hotmail message. I just thought I'd like to try and nip this in the bud if at all possible.

I regularly use HiJack this and have noticed lately that the address of mcafee in the log will sometimes be spelled "McAfee" and sometimes it's "mcafee" w/o the caps. Does this matter?

I have tried Ewido in the past and it was great. MOre recently I think they have changed to AVS, which I have just used but didn't post the log (it only showed tracking cookies). I can do it again if you like.
Just thought I'd post my hjt log and possibly you could tell me if there's something there that shouldn't be.

I also ran avast! this a.m. and it showed two files that would not allow scanning:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\CatRoot2\edb.log
C:\WINDOWS\system32\CatRoot2\temp.edb
Tried to delete them but would not happen...files were "in use".

I appreciate your time and efforts.

s.u.d.

Hi,

I can't see anything suspicious here.

I regularly use HiJack this and have noticed lately that the address of mcafee in the log will sometimes be spelled "McAfee" and sometimes it's "mcafee" w/o the caps. Does this matter?

Nothing to worry about, this is normal.

I also ran avast! this a.m. and it showed two files that would not allow scanning:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\CatRoot2\edb.log
C:\WINDOWS\system32\CatRoot2\temp.edb
Tried to delete them but would not happen...files were "in use".

This is normal as well, because these files are locked - so don't worry about them, they are ok.

What I suggest here is, since your main problem is a problem with McAfee, is to uninstall McAfee and reinstall it again, because most probably something got corrupted there.
Also make sure, since you use the McAfee Firewall as well is that you don't block its own update service through the firewall, because I've seen this happen in the past as well.
