      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

drivecleaner.com pop-ups

12 posts in this topic

I find that when I try to visit certain sites I get redirected to a site called www.drivecleaner.com which always gives me a pop-up telling me my computer is infected. It tries to get me to download and install their software, which fortunately I didn't fall for, realising it was probably a scam. However, I still continue to get these pop-ups. The only sites which I regularly visit which seem to give me this problem are www.ebaumsworld.com and www.gofish.com, both of which are quite large sites which I severely doubt have initiated the problem.

I've ran many scans with Lavasoft Ad-Aware, Spyboy: Search and Destroy and AVG Anti-Spyware but they do not find the problem.

Here is my HiJackThis log file:

Let see if it's a vundo infection

Please download Atribune's VundoFix.exe from this site:

http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4 and place it on your desktop.

Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.

Click the Scan for Vundo button.

Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.

You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files,

click YES

Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing

Vundo.

When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer,

click OK.

Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Nothing found with vundofix. I've removed some things on hijackthis (just extra buttons and menu items that I did not need) so this log will be a little different.)

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from this site:

http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

When your system reboots, follow the prompts. Afterwards, HijackThis will launch, if not start it. Please click Scan, and check the following items:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {2F364306-AA45-47B5-9F9D-39A8B94E7EF7} - (no file)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)

O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {B4B52284-A248-4c51-9F7C-F0A0C67FCC9D} - (no file)

Click Fix Checked. Close HijackThis, and click OK to proceed.

At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.

Finally, please post the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt, along with a new HijackThis log.

If you have problems with your internet connection after this fix, try this.

Please go to Start -> Control Panel, and choose Network Connections. Then right click on your default connection, usually Local Area Connection or Dial-up Connection if you are using Dial-up, and left click on properties. Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio button that says Obtain DNS servers automatically. Click OK twice, and restart your computer.
