I've been using Ad-Aware, Spybot, CounterSpy, WinPatrol, SpyCatcher, and so on every day, but programs still flood in by the dozens. I can't figure out the root of the problem and need some help. Thanks.

Hi wvjmaff, and Welcome to SWI

Sorry it has taken so long to get to you, but the board has been very busy lately, and all the Helpers here are volunteers.

I don't see any large amount of malware in your log (what were you referring to). I only see one item that I would remove, because it's considered foistware.

However, you appear to be running AVG7 and McAfee AntiVirus. It is not recommended to run more than one antivirus program resident, as they can conflict with each other, and you actually end up with less protection, not more. You can end up with false detections, an inabiilty to remove of disinfect a virus, or even conflicts that could lock the system. You should decide which you want for your main resident protection, and disable the other one and use it as an on-demand scanner, rather than running it resident.

WildTangent is considered "foistware", installed with some on-line games, but it's not required for them to run, and you are never given the chance to refuse the install. Their privacy policy used to state that they collect and share individual's information, although this is no longer the case. I highly recommend you optionally uninstall it. If you decide to remove it, go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and remove the following program (if found):
WildTangent

If you tried to uninstall WildTangent, you should also run HijackThis and fix the item there:

Now you need to run HijackThis and click "Do a system scan only." Place a check next to the following entry (if still there):

O16 - DPF: {3A7FE611-1994-4EF1-A09F-99456752289D} - http://install.wildt...iveLauncher.cab

Now close all browser and other windows except for HijackThis, and click "Fix Checked" to have HijackThis fix the entry you checked.

Please post a new HijackThis log.
