      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

Help with CWS About:Blank variant???

4 posts in this topic

I keep getting infected with the about.blank cws malware. I scanned with Adaware and Spybot, which both found nothing. Adaware DID find a vulnerability but fixed it. I used Spy Sweeper and every time I scan it finds that same malware. I do not have the main symptom of this infection (Home Page reset) but I DO have a slower internet service and in the corner (Where it tells you what site is loading or where a link leads) every time I go to a website, it says "Waiting for about blank." Also my HJT says the homepage IS about;blank even though it's not. Maybe my homepage protection from other software is blocking it from being hijacked but it's definitly annoying. Spy Sweeper claims it has removed it but EVERY time, it detects it again. I know I have to be infected with something. IDK what it is though. And guess what? It all happened right after my 10 yr. old brother used my PC. It has always been clean as a whistle before this and now e came along >:/ anyways here's my HJT log BEFORE that Adaware veulnerabilty fix (if that makes any diff.) THX!

Hi,

There's nothing to worry here. about:blank is just a blank page. If you were having the about:blank infection (CWS), then you would get a questionable search page with about:blank in the address bar.

What your Windows is doing is just normal behavior and the fact that you are running multiple scans in the background causes the confusing detections and a serious system slowdown.

It's really not needed to overload your Windows startup with several scans running in the background, because after all, they are all doing the same and may just interfere with eachother.

Windows Defender, Spysweeper, SuperAntispyware

Also read next page:

Help! My computer is slow!

Anyway, there's nothing suspicious in your log.

Also, please set your startpage properly. Because you've set it to http://google.com/

It won't find it immediately, because the www is missing, so set it to http://www.google.com
