i asked this question a few days ago and got no replies, i really need help with this so im tryin again, please help.

a couple weeks ago something weird happened to my windows 2k system. I went to bed i BELIEVE my internet was workin, but when i woke up next morning it was not. I say believe because i know it was working up til i ran spybot s&d and adaware. I ran it, deleted everything they found, and went to bed. i don't think i tried to go online again after that. I'm thinking i may have removed a piece of spyware that once removed is stopping me from accessing the internet.

So the problem now is that my computer cannot resolve a DNS. with DHCP windows is assigning me a 169.x.x.x IP adress and default gateway is coming up 255.255.0.0. In cmd I can ping myself, i can ping the router, i cant ping any internet adresses. I should mention i use a linksys wireless-b pci card and a wireless-g router. Neither of these are the problem since i have tested them both already, both work fine, and also i ran a ethernet cable from the router to the wireless computer and it still could not resolve a DNS. Also, the computer i am on now is hardlined to the router and can access the internet fine, so its not my ISP. If i run a hard line directly from the cable modem to my pci ethernet card im sure that will not work either.

i heard of hijack this and ran it just for the hell of it on the computer thats not working so here is the log. I don't believe the problem will be found here though, my question is what are the possible files or registry entries that would have been changed by the spyware and upon removal would now be keeping me from accessing the internet, how can i find whatever has been changed and fix it. Sorry for the length of this post, i appreciate any help anyone can offer, here is the log of hijack this:

Oh and even when i specify the correct network settings with DHCP off (IP, subnet mask, DNS primary and secondary, gateway) windows will recognize all my settings and show them with ipconfig /all EXCEPT the DNS will remain blank.

thanks
