Hello, I've been getting adware popups recently which I was not getting before. I'm not too computer saavy, but I did run "hi-jack this" and have pasted the log below. If someone could please help me get rid of this problem, I would very much appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I ran a symantec virus scan which found the following:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\wunauclt.exe is infected with Backdoor.Graybird
C:\WINDOWS\system32\xmltok.dll is infected with Trackware.SAHAgent
C:\Program Files\7za.exe is infected with Trojan.Horst
C:\Program Files\wunauclt.exe is infected with Backdoor.Graybird

I deleted 7za.exe from Program Files, but I'm not sure whether that would have fixed the problem.

Hi,

I need to see the whole picture.

Download the latest HijackThis version from this site, run the program and it will install in a good and viable location on your hard disk.

http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip

Then remove the previous version.

Submit a fresh HijackThis log for my review. Wait for my instructions.

Print this page for you easy of reference.

Download Dr.Web CureIt to the desktop:
ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/cureit/drweb-cureit.exe
  • Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
  • This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
  • Once the short scan has finished, mark the drives that you want to scan.
  • Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
  • Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
  • Click 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
  • When the scan has finished, look if you can click next icon next to the files found: Posted Image
  • If so, click it and then click the next icon right below and select Move incurable as you'll see in next image:
    Posted Image
This will move it to the %userprofile%\DoctorWeb\quarantaine-folder if it can't be cured. (this in case if we need samples)
  • After selecting, in the Dr.Web CureIt menu on top, click file and choose save report list
  • Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
  • Close Dr.Web Cureit.
  • Reboot your computer!! Because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot.
  • After reboot, post the contents of the log from Dr.Web you saved previously in your next reply. You can use Notepad to open the DrWeb.cvs report.

Next I would like to see the results of this scan.

Download this file - combofix.exe

and save it to your desktop (Important). Also save the below command in Notepad as a text file so that you can copy/paste in safe mode.

"%userprofile%\desktop\combofix.exe"

Boot into safe mode by tapping the F8 key just before Windows starts to load.

go to start --> run and copy/paste in the following:

"%userprofile%\desktop\combofix.exe"

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Save it and post that log in your next reply.

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

In your next post, please include
  • new hijackthis log
  • combofix log

*use separate posts to ensure the logs don't get cut off!

=*=

Let me see both reports.

Include a fresh HijackThis log for review.

Let me know what problem persist.

1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 to your Desktop.
  • Click on Avenger.zip to open the file
  • Extract avenger.exe to your desktop
2. Copy all the text in Bold contained in the code box below (including the first line, which is a command to the tool Files to delete: to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):

Files to Delete:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\qqhwqdev.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rmdgmokq.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ubacvene.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\qhusxacu.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkkji.dll

registry keys to delete:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon\notify\ddabyaw
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon\notify\jkkji
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{0233D1D6-E00D-4C45-BF14-485759765168}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{F6A710CA-DBF1-40B8-819F-9A0F39F6192B}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ShellExecuteHooks\{0233D1D6-E00D-4C45-BF14-485759765168}

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.
  • Under "Script file to execute" choose "Input Script Manually".
  • Now click on the Magnifying Glass icon which will open a new window titled "View/edit script"
  • Paste the text copied to clipboard into this window by pressing (Ctrl+V).
  • Click Done
  • Now click on the Green Light to begin execution of the script
  • Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.
4. The Avenger will automatically do the following:
  • It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Unload", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
  • On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
  • After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger's actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
  • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
5. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply along with a fresh HijackThis log by using Add/Reply.

Let me know what problem remains.

Just to let you know, I removed my Norton Firewall and Norton AntiVirus 2004 (wanting to replace it with NAV 2007), however I could not install NAV 2007 and so I installed Zone Alarm instead.

Still getting popups, but the system seems to be running a little better. Also re-installed NAV 2004.

Print this topic it will make it easier for you to follow the instructions and complete all of the necessary steps.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {20F51824-AA97-45E2-964B-855E9C16A952} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkkji.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: Canon Easy Web Print Helper - {68F9551E-0411-48E4-9AAF-4BC42A6A46BE} - C:\Program Files\Canon\Easy-WebPrint\EWPBrowseLoader.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {92A444D2-F945-4dd9-89A1-896A6C2D8D22} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\kkuyogci.dll
O3 - Toolbar: Easy-WebPrint - {327C2873-E90D-4c37-AA9D-10AC9BABA46C} - C:\Program Files\Canon\Easy-WebPrint\Toolband.dll (file missing)
O23 - Service: Par0lp20 - Creative Technology Ltd. - (no file)

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Delete this file in bold.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\kkuyogci.dll

If unable to delete the file, try to delete it after this next scan.

Restart the computer normally to reset the registry.

Include a fresh HijackThis log for review.

Let me know what problem persist.

Print this topic it will make it easier for you to follow the instructions and complete all of the necessary steps.

Nice work your log is clean. Just some clean up to do.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {E12BFF69-38A7-406e-A8EF-2738107A7831} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ocleedpa.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {E984C192-C1AE-4A2E-9ECF-966D32A4147F} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtsqn.dll (file missing)

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Restart the computer to reset the registry.

Remove the O23 item

Goto Start Menu > Run > and type (or copy and paste)

sc delete Par0lp20

Press OK and you will just notice the cmd screen open and then close, then the service is marked for deletion, please then reboot the PC again and the 023 entry should not show in the log, let me know if it does.

Please read this Prevention page with lots of info and tips how to prevent this in the future.
