i've tried the ones mentioned in the forum faq, but the two free ones gave me blue screens and the third one i have to pay for, something that really isn't an option for me right now...

could anyone give some recommendations on a good ***FREE*** firewall?

:scratchhead:

I'm not sure what firewalls you tried, since there aren't any mentioned in the Forum FAQ, but I assume it was probably ZoneAlarm and Kerio Sunbelt Firewall. There is also Agnitum Outpost Free, and Comodo Free Firewall which you might want to try. It might not also hurt to post in PC Troubleshooting to see if you can find what the conflict was, since you may have other software that's causing the stability problem.

I am guessing you are talking about the "So how did I get infected in the first place" article and all of the firewalls mentioned in there have free versions available... Also, I agree with TheJoker, if you are getting blue screens, the problem is not the firewalls...

i got Outpost Pro

Outpost Pro (which is what I used until recently) will operate as a free trial for only 30 days. To run longer than that, you need the free version of Outpost you can get Here.
